"Just found this hidden gem in Stone Oak- amazing! Excellent fish and chips- perfectly fried, not too oily, delicious, fresh cod. The homemade tartar sauce was yummy as well. Even had decaf earl grey tea served in a lovely china teapot/tea cup combo. Such a great atmosphere, fabulous service, and such friendly staff. And British soap operas playing on TV. It was a very immersive experience. The prices were high for lunch, but it was more like a full, hearty dinner plate that was served, so I didn't mind. I highly recommend going here. Also they will do a tea-time service with cakes and the works for you if you call 48 hours ahead because everything is made fresh that day."

"I took a moody 13 year old along with me to get some fish and chips at The Olde English Tea Shoppe. We arrived at 1:30pm Friday afternoon, and the place only had two tables empty and the parking lot was packed. A single server was helping the front of the store and he seated us immediately. I did not have a reservation. I was surprised by how nice this place felt, with real ceramic plates and metal cutlery and vinegar in carafes on the table, it felt more like a sit down restaurant than a chippy shop by far. We both got the fish and chips with mushy peas and it was absolutely fantastic. The plates came out in minutes after ordering, the breading was light and crisp and the fish was tender and perfectly cooked. I've never tried the fish with vinegar before, but with it table side, I couldn't help but try and it was delicious. I cleaned my plate and my 13 year old finished everything but his peas (of course). Service was excellent, and we were checked on frequently by not only our server but nearly everyone working there. I grabbed a sausage wrap to go, and it was a buttery flaky pastry wrapped around a delicious sausage. It fell apart in my car so I'll be picking up pastry crumbs for a few weeks, but, still worth it. They do have a 10% military discount. All the food and 2 canned sodas came out to about $40 pre-tip. Will definitely make the trip again from the west side to try the bangers and mash and hopefully a toad in the hole if that makes an appearance."

"We decided to try @theoldenglishteashoppe for lunch today. It's another new restaurant in the Stone Oak area. We all had teas. Sunday's special is the Pot Roast and hubby tried it. Overall, he felt it was good but would have preferred the mashed potatoes. Dad and I shared the Quiche, which came with 2 sides. I chose the mashed potatoes and salad. We thought to also try the Cottage Pie and Sausage Roll. Cottage Pie is similar to Shepherd's Pie but using ground beef instead of lamb. I was hoping to try their Fish and Chips but they're only served on Fridays. They also have high tea. Dr. Rob, one of the owners, came by to check on our table. Since they're fairly new, they're still working out the service. Check them out!"

"Had the wonderful experience of having English Tea lunch here. It was the proper and authentic English tea experience with finger sandwiches and mini desserts. All the food is painstakingly prepared by hand and customized to your liking. The staff is exquisite and friendly making the whole time enjoyable and comfortable. The restaurant is a little hidden from street view but it is worth seeking out. Soon they will be serving Fish and Chips on Fridays. I am looking forward to that."
