About Us

Graham House, located at 10721 Northwest 138th Street in Hialeah, Florida, was once the childhood home of former Florida Governor Bob Graham. Built in 1924 by Ernest R. “Cap” Graham, this historic landmark was part of the Pennsylvania Sugar Company's operations in the early 20th century. The house, made of coral rock, stands as a reminder of the once-thriving dairy farm that occupied the area.
Ernest Graham, a mining engineer turned farmer, managed the operations of the sugar company and later started his own business, Graham Dairy, on the land. The town of Pennsuco, where Graham House is located, saw its population dwindle over the years as the dairy farm moved and residential development took over. Eventually, the remaining residents voted to abolish the city charter and were annexed into Dade County.
Despite its historic significance, Graham House has fallen into disrepair over the years. In February 2024, a fire broke out in the abandoned house, leading to the arrest of a woman named Angela Taylor on charges of burglary and arson. The incident brought attention to the deteriorating state of the once-grand estate.
Photographer and historian David Bulit has documented the history of Graham House and other forgotten landmarks in his work. He continues to advocate for the preservation of these sites, highlighting their importance in telling the story of Florida's past. With its rich history and ties to a prominent political figure, Graham House remains a symbol of the changing landscape of South Florida.
