"If I could give them a zero, I would!!! This Dr is a JOKE!! My mother had been out of her Xanax!! She went to an appointment and the Dr wasn’t there! They said they notified mother, but there was no message on her or my dad’s phone!! Anybody who knows anything about Xanax and other drugs like it, is that you just cannot stop those cold turkey!! Seizures, psychological breaks, and other problems. Now they have cancelled her appointment yet again!! She is still out of her medication!! They wouldn’t transfer me to a nurse line or anything else!! Never go see this doctor! And if you’re his patient, I would RUN, RUN, RUN!!!"
"I told him what I experienced after the unexpected death of my son. I was a functioning alcoholic who self medicated by drinking 4 or MORE bottles of wine EVERY single day. I was crying all the time, even at work. I felt helpless and out of control. I slept or passed out for 2-3 hours and once awake I’d start drinking again. I never missed a day of work and my bills were paid but if I had died in my sleep that would have been fine with me. Dr. Schachter saved me. He asked what I wanted and we talked about what meds would help. He explained I’d have to stop drinking. What he prescribed helped me see things clearer and sleep better. I was still drinking but not as much. Then one I dropped an entire bottle of wine which shattered everywhere. I knew it was dangerous but with the help from the meds and being able to control my anxiety I stopped that day. I haven’t had a drink since. That was September 24, 2020. I’ve been sober for over 2 years and I can’t imagine it any other way. Dr. Scatcher doesn’t do appointments that last more than 10 min with me. My meds work, I’m happy and I literally don’t cry. I’m in control of my life and if I could lose weight it’d be even better. He always asks if I’m having and problems and how is the medication. I have no worries. He is ALWAYS early for my appointments and writes my refills. He is direct and efficient. So I’m free to enjoy the rest of my day and my life. I wish all my healthcare professionals were like this. Not everyone will agree but he got me on the right path and saved me from myself and I am forever grateful."
"I don’t know what those low reviews are about - Dr. Schacter is fantastic! He’s personable, punctual and easy to talk to! He’s a psychiatrist which means, he does primarily med checks - so if you’re looking for therapy, you should go to a therapist. He checked my medication dosages and asked if they were ok levels (b/c mine are a tad high). He didn’t prescribe new b/c my meds work. He did multi-task and wrote notes & my refills, but still maintained a friendly convo with me. As a 15 year veteran of mental health services who’s been to some horrible psychiatrists - Dr. Schacter is a diamond in the rough. I highly recommend him."
"I currently see him. Yes he writes a bunch of prescriptions. But he doesn’t force you to take anything you don’t want to. I told him about my insomnia. He asked if I wanted to add another medication. I’ve tried meditation videos. They help don’t get me wrong. But I’m giving him 4 stars because I believe his appointments need to be longer than 10 minutes. 15 minutes would be better. Good luck finding a psychiatrist that takes insurance AND has appointments longer than 15 minutes."
"Went in to my appt with my newborn for Postpartum issues. Dr. Schachter listened to me for two minutes, and the rest of the five minutes I spent in his office he told me I should stop breastfeeding to take the meds he was giving me, because he didn't know if the meds were safe for nursing, and if I wanted to continue nursing, I would have to research it myself with a pediatrician. He also prescribed me Ambien to take every night because I had said I was tired. Um, I'm tired because I have a newborn! He didn't even bother to ask whether or not I had a spouse or someone to help me with my baby at night. If I didn't know how strong and sedating Ambien was, I would have taken it as directed and possibly seriously harmed my child. I threw away prescriptions and changed doctors immediately."
