Cosmopolitan on the Canal

"The property positions itself and prices itself as a luxury option, but unfortunately, the amenities and services provided within the units do not meet luxury standards. As an example, the dishwasher in the unit is outdated and ineffective, lacking a top water-spraying mechanism that results in incomplete cleaning of dishes. The water pressure from the shower head is so weak that showering takes twice as long. Distressingly, the management does not address these concerns when presented as maintenance requests. Their response is that these amenities were provided by the management, they're not broken and there's nothing that can be done. The worst part is there will be surprising trash violation ($25/ violation) on your bill, it's stressful so be prepared. On one occasion, we didn't fully unwrap a box, assuming that reshaping it would inconvenience the maintenance staff. However, this led to a fine. Another time, we placed a plastic box in the recycling bin, assuming that using an additional plastic bag for a single box contradicted environmental friendliness. This resulted in yet another fine. The lack of consistent communication or courtesy reminders exacerbates the problem. Some units commit the same actions without fines, while others, like us, are penalized for identical behavior. This inconsistency creates confusion and frustration among neighbors, leading us to believe that certain actions are acceptable until we're fined for them. Quote a previous review: They will fine you for minor infractions that a simple conversation between adults could have easily remedied. The staff working here are friendly. But the situation created are not. A little stressful overall. Don't recommend. For everyone's reference."

"Extremely friendly folks, convenient elevator set up, and great apartments. Layout of the building itself is a bit confusing and different, but it’s been fun and I’m so excited to live here! **I lived here for two full years, only moving recently in May. I am changing my rating to three stars from four for a few key reasons. One, the staff changed twice during my time, and each time I felt it got a less personable, and less communicative. Two, I was informed that if I renewed my lease, my rent would increase 300$ a month, rather than the regular 50-100$ increase I had seen in the years prior. Three, downtown Indy is simply not as safe as it used to be. I no longer felt I could walk to school down the road or the canal. I enjoyed my time here for the most part, as they have the most lovely maintenance team, great neighbors, and clean hallways with clean apartments. Just be ready for strict rules about decor, high cost, more invisibility as a tenant, and some safety when outside the building."

"All prospective tenants, BEWARE and AVOID! I have lived at this apartment complex for two years, and the recent change in management is horrendous. Cosmopolitan on the Canal is grossly overpriced, and the quality isn’t worth it. They will fine you for minor infractions that a simple conversation between adults could have easily remedied. The property manager lacks tact and the common touch of compassion. She has a knack for trying to appear intelligent and has a huge chip on her shoulder. Do yourself a massive favor, save the headache and money, and look for housing elsewhere! Please do not allow my mistake to be your misery."

"I have lived here for the past 2 years and have absolutely loved it. Would be staying longer if it weren't for a new job out of state. Love the modern apartment units and all of the amenities. The location is also great as you are right on the canal and near Mass. Ave. Groundskeeper is always working, keeping the apartment and pool area very clean. Parking has never been an issue, it's really convenient to be able to park on the same floor as your unit. Management has always been very responsive and helpful. Any maintenance issues were always resolved within 24 hours. Would highly recommend living here!"
