"I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of empathy and flexibility. Very excessive enforcement of $75 late or no show fees, even in emergency or unavoidable circumstances. I have just moved out of state and emailed and called the office to request an emergency refill until I can find a local doctor. A week and a half later, I have run out of my medication, the office has finally reached back out to me, and I have been informed that despite my long and consistent use of my medication, I am unable to get a refill without coming into an in-office visit, even after explaining I am 1000 miles away. It is sad that an office you entrust with your mental health can show such disregard for patients. I've consistently felt like my money was valued over my health."
"My provider (MD) is fantastic. Caring, attentive, knowledgeable and produces results. The business and operations staff of this practice are pathetic, petty, spiteful excuses for human beings. They may actually be the spawn of Satan himself. I cannot fathom why my doctor works with/for them."
"I had an extremely disappointing experience at Psychiatry South and feel compelled to share my concerns. Despite completing an extensive amount of paperwork prior to my appointment, the level of professionalism during my visit was shockingly low. Throughout the entire consultation, the psychiatrist remained fixated on their laptop, merely asking questions and recording my responses without ever making eye contact or showing a hint of personal engagement. This lack of personal touch and apparent disinterest in creating a comforting environment for patients was distressing and completely unacceptable in a psychiatric care setting. I have decided not to return and would caution anyone who is considering this office, especially if you've been referred by your primary care physician. I strongly recommend seeking a different psychiatrist for a more empathetic and professional experience."
"I have been coming here for over 10 years. I have enjoyed my experience here and will continue to receive care from them. The 2 physicians that I have seen have always been pleasant and respectful of my concerns. I did have a bad experience with one of the NP’s and after I expressed my feelings about it with my physician, I did not have to see said NP again. (Not to say NP was not good, but we did not see eye to eye). The office staff can be hard to deal with at times, but they’re a busy office and can not take care of everyone’s needs at one time. I will say they are much better than they were 5/6 years ago. The portal has been a life saver and I’m thankful to be able to receive and send messages without having to call and leave voicemails. You can’t expect the physicians to jump through hoops for you and 1,000+ other people, please be realistic. They, too, have a life outside of work. Don’t expect them to respond to your crisis in 15 minutes. That’s what 911 is for. This is a psych office, not an ER. You can’t just show up when you’re having a bad day and expect to get in. With that being said, sure there are things they could do better, but there’s also things I could do better at my own job."
"The people who work here do not care for your well being, or even if you are a suicide risk. They are just the same as any other business who just wants your money. I got a flat tire on my way to my appointment last week and had to reschedule on short notice. They didn't tell me on the phone that I would need to bring $75 in addition to my $30 copay to be able to see the doctor. I didn't have any of the $75 even though I did have my copay, so I had to reschedule again, which they will charge another $75 for. I begged them to please help me because I have OCD and depression and I can't be off my medicine for that long. They didn't even try to help, just said the administrator is out today. I was in tears when I left. If they had told me on the phone that I would need the $75 then I could have arranged to have it ahead of time but my appointment was at 11 and they didn't tell me this until 11:15, when I had to be back at work at 12 with a 30 minute drive ahead of me, so I didn't have time to try to get the money. This experience has left me feeling helpless and contemplating getting off of my antidepressants against my doctor's advice simply because I am afraid of them continuing to hold me hostage from getting mental health care. I took time off work to make it to this appointment."
