"Management is decent and prompt with repairs. Beautiful green areas for walks. During my 2.5 years it flooded about 3 times and we had to evacuate. Rent is a bit high for BHM area. The office staff isn’t very polite."
"Beware of renting an apartment at this complex! These units and the parking lots can and will flood. Since signing my lease there has been 2 major events, May 2021 and October 2021. During our tour the leasing agent told us they had flooded one time during February 2020. After many discussions with the City of Homewood and the Fire Department that is not true. They have flooded numerous times during the last 10 years. During the October flooding event, the Fire Department felt the residents were in danger due to the rising creek and decided to evacuate the apartments. Management was not happy with this decision. In my opinion this puts the safety of the residents in jeopardy and that is unacceptable. The flooding that can happen very quickly at these units is a public safety risk! In addition to the flooding, the water is shut off here at least once per week."
"I've lived here for 3 years and really enjoyed it. It's a quiet neighborhood and a dog-friendly area. The apartments are spacious and maintenance is very responsive and they do a good job. Flooding is a concern and in 2020 we were evacuated by the fire department at 3am. According to the office, the water didn't get into any of the buildings. The real problem was the parking lot which is lower than the buildings so we needed to get our cars out before the water got deep enough to damage them. Flooding is not very common, and the creek is deep enough that I'm not usually worried when we have storms. Rent hasn't increased much in the time I've been living here, but that's because of pandemic, so I don't know how they normally increase rent year to year. Overall it's been a good place to live. It's very close to UAB and Stanford. EDIT: after I wrote this review there was a worse flood in May 2021. Some of the buildings had ~1 foot of water inside and are currently being renovated. Several cars were flooded out because the parking lot is lower than the buildings the water was several feet deep there. I was fine on the second floor, I didn't evacuate, but first floor residents did."
"I lived at the Crescent for a year. It's not a bad apartment at all for the price. My few complaints are how thin the walls are (can hear neighbors' music next to us and dog barking in unit below us all night) and the flooding (woke up at 3am one morning to the Fire Marshall banging on our door telling us to evacuate due to flooding). Even though the evacuation only happened once, every time it rained heavy I nervously kept an eye on the creek behind the complex. Other than that, solid place to live. The rooms are big, office staff is friendly, maintenance is fast and the complex is conveniently located."
