"I was a patient here awhile ago, and due to my insurance not being accepted at UAB I was brought to Hillcrest where my insurance was accepted. I honestly did not want to be here. Though who really does? I wasn't really there to 'get on meds', more so to figure out a treatment plan by working with a therapist and the gentleman therapist there was able to bring out some emotions and I cried, and was grateful that I was in a secure setting to allow me to deal with such emotions. I do appreciate the medical staff there. More so I appreciate the therapist they have and I highly encourage anyone that is a patient or future patient to explore your options with a social worker for when you are released."
"honestly barely remember too much besides being drugged out and scared. staff and nurses would scream and cuss at you for dozing off in the day room, needing to go to the bathroom, whispering to your roommate after lights out despite the many patients with insomnia. i begged the doctor to let me go home while sobbing in front of him and he told me he wanted me to stay with no reason as to why. they were not accomadating at all for food when i have terrible sensory issues and i lost 5 pounds at least in the week and a half that i was there. do not send your loved ones here if you actually care about their health and healing. it was actually one of the most traumatizing things ive been through and i was traumatized well before i was ever admitted. if i could give it 0 stars i would. they were rough and degrading to patients that were more challenged than others or werent compliant. i have no idea who values that hospital enough to keep it open."
"Overall an amazing experience! Stuff has been accommodating As much as possible. Having a child that's in a facility Is hard. Although I wish I could have more contact with my child. I understand that their main focus is their Mental health. Staff has made it very clear I am more Then welcome to call them in any time to check on my child's status. They are strict which I can also appreciate because Anyone with mental health issues requires structure. The staff was accepting and kind. It's probably the only place that I have not felt myself for my children are outcasts because we are not from the south We were treated no differently than any Anyone else. Also from what my child tells me staff is very consistent with their behavior which is also another necessity when it comes to a patient healing.I appreciate the staff here! It is so hard to be without your child and the Fact that I can call them at any time it's so helpful."
"I have not been here. Looking for someone help. It won't be here. I noticed a truth telling telljust reading the reviews. Those who gave a good review were given a good thank you happy comment from staff back. But if u notice that those crevices that were bad and traumatic were responded back to with a standard blah blah blah. Every one.which means that they do not intend to improve or look into or acknowledge any trauma or abuse they caused. At a MENTAL HEALTH facility. Makes me wonder how it's allowed to continue . Who believes a mental patient right?? That's how. Karma is a real ,and what goes around will one day bite u in the A_S.im very sorry as a human being and mother of a ptsd sufferer.thank you for your comments. And trying to keep others from experiencing what u have had to"
"My daughter received good care. However, I was lied to twice about receiving her 14 day discharge medications. I was told at the time of discharge that someone from the facility would bring the medications to my home due to delays. I called later to confirm that they would do as promised. I was told the person was on their way. No one showed up. Not even a call. Thank God the provider sent prescriptions to the pharmacy, I was able to give my daughter her medications on schedule. But I am very disappointed and intend to report to administration. I hope this is not the norm and that this doesn’t happen to another patient. Update: I called the next day. Donnetta is amazing!! She did everything she could to resolve this issue. She was consistent in communication with me and very apologetic. Claudia called shortly after to confirm that she is on the way. She was very apologetic as well. Changing my 1 star to a 5 star. Ladies I appreciate you both. Thank you!"
