Belicoso Cigars

"While I appreciate most any cigar store/lounge, I have certain expectations: atmosphere, friendliness of staff, variety, quality. I did not visit the lounge, so I cannot speak much to the atmosphere, although there were charming aspects to the store area. The cashier was friendly, but the man who (I believe I heard correctly) was a part owner, did not show much interest in my being there; and no one offered to help me. Though the humidor is small (not much bigger than what I would call a topical walk-in closet), I was surprised at the lack of variety--especially of the brands advertised and carried. There was a lot of empty shelf space. I chose a stick I'd never had before, which turned out to be quite tasty--Highclere Castle Hecho a Mano. During my purchase, I decided to check out their torch/cutter selection. There were three cheap torches (I did purchase one for $12 and it worked well), and three or four cutters--again, surprisingly small assortment. After purchase, I removed the cigar from the wrapper and cut it there at the counter with their table top cutter, when I noticed there was a blemish (hole) in the side of the cigar. I showed it to them, and they replaced it for me. I would only go here again if I had absolutely no other options."

"In Birmingham for the afternoon and wanted to check out this shop as it came up first when I searched for cigar shops near me. Upon entering the shop, which was very small, 3 people seated in chairs next to the register with an employee who seemed to have this look upon his face like I had intruded upon a private club. The employee seemed rather disgruntled and immediately gave me the cold shoulder. I introduced myself and mentioned I was from out of town and wanted to check out their selection, instead hopping up from behind his desk to show me around he simply pointed to a door behind me. Said door led to a broom closet with a rather pitiful selection of cigars. I do not recommend visiting this shop, ever."
