"Worst service, rude people. I don’t recommend this place. They need to learn about customer service, the items are okay but this company need to change their employees so far."
"Great service. Rented a yard equipment from them and all guys were very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend anyone!"
"First and LAST time dealing with Sunbelt, especially this location. No concept of customer service or business ethics. Manager was very short when I called, but unfortunately, they had the pallet jack that I needed to rent and my Home Depot location did not. So I go and rent the jack for a day and a half. When I get my paperwork to sign, there was the rental fee and an additional $10.00+ some change for rental protection (which I did not ask for nor was I given an option). So i ask, "There has to be rental protection on it?" to which J.J., the manager, replied, "Yeah". I gave a "I don't believe that" facial expression but signed the paperwork because I was on my lunch break, short on time, and had to have it. I got back to my office and called their Corporate "Customer Service" number and spoke to some raspy voiced lady. I asked her if rental protection was optional or had to go on pallet jack rentals. She then asked for my location and said that she was transferring me to the local store. I told her that it was a general question regarding company policy and asked if she could answer it? She got a little irritated and said, "No, I can't. Each location is different".... Which was puzzling. So different locations operate under different policies and rules? Well, long story short, after some back and forth, she never answered my question. So, I navigated through their Company website and found that "The Rental Protection Plan ("RPP") is NOT an insurance policy. The RPP is an extended rental protection plan, for you or your company, to offset possible damages or theft that may occur during the equipment rental period. While the RPP is completely optional, it is recommended to maximize your total protection while renting equipment." I called the 2613 2nd Ave South in Birmingham location back with my new found information. and J.J. answered. I told him what I read on the company website and stated that he confirmed that the rental protection had to go on the pallet jack. He responded, "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you asked if rental protection was on there. And I said Yeah because it was." He said he'll take it off of my ticket. So there was perfect communication between us with me standing 3 feet from him and the only customer in the place until the rental protection question... sure. Of course it was on there... because he put it on there without asking. he knew exactly what I asked while I was there, lied about it... then lied again when confronted about it. So, if you plan on renting any equipment from here, just know that the rental protection is "optional" only if you ask that it be removed. Story doesn't end there.... Upon returning the equipment, I walk in and there was a different guy sitting at the computer, Tony or Tommy (Can't remember). No greeting, no "I'll be with you in just a moment", no "Hey, welcome to Sunbelt", no "what can I help you with?"... nothing. So, I'm just standing at the counter watching him stare at the computer. A printing mishap caused him to let a few S-bombs fly, so that was nice as well. Just then, J.J. comes out from the back of the store, I'm there with my debit card in hand and ask for my money back from the rental protection I never asked for. He said "I took it off when you called, but it may take a few days to show up on your account." Complete speculation here, but I bet I'm not far off: Employees get commission for adding rental protection plans to orders. I have no clue if it should take days to get my refund, I wouldn't think so, it doesn't happen anywhere else. Either their system/process is that slow, or the employee is waiting until they receive the commission to give me my money back. Either way, I can't express how much I will never go back here. Only upside to the whole thing it that the pallet jack did work great.. So, 1 star for the jack, 0 for everything else."
