"Performed preventative maintenance on my old reliable Lawnboy for years - last time it needed a part that they could not get (Lawnboy not being manufactured anymore) so I get it -no prob - picked it up after 5mos and bought a new Honda Self Prop model they recommended- left with my old and new mower. Came back the next day because the new Honda had a wobbly wheel causing an uneven cut. They handed me a new wheel to install myself. One cut and realized it was no better. I measured the deck height as anyone could have done and found it to be 1/4” off L to R. So I returned with mower for same unlevel cut. picked it up as repaired - same problem - returned it and picked it up 9 days later. (rented a mower twice and they loaned me a mower once during repair time) Said they replaced the front wheel axel and I picked it up and cut one time but still same problem. Measured deck height again and found it 1/4” difference L to R. Gave the mower to my son who was just happy to have a new mower. Went to purchase a 2nd mower same model - they offered me $20 off price and with attitude -Disappointing- I left and went to HD and purchased it. They later called to say they would replace it. Too late! This is a story of a severed bus relationship due to poor customer service and attitude. I want to be kind and fair but it was very frustrating. I have found a new service provider should I need one in the future."
"I called and discussed a zt xl with Micheal. he said he had a 52 inch ariens that was basically a repainted gravely. we discussed this and I said I was interested since the mower in question was just a rebadged zt xl. my wife went and paid for it and picked it up with a picture of the correct model on her phone (iKon XL 52"). I met my wife at Bobs after work. she had already loaded the mower. I was wondering about the paint job but didn't think much about it. after getting it home and doing some research I figured out the mower was a "limited edition" iKon XD that was $700 more for the same mower. just a different paint job. terrible service guys."
"Be prepared for attitude from the desk help there, esp. the grey mustache at Valleydale road. If I had wanted a smart aleck, I would have talked to my kids. I hope their service people are excellent, to put up with that kind of treatment."
"Terrible, or NO customer service! I have a battery lawnmower and have taken it there for blades to be sharpened twice. Done in 10 minutes while I waited. Impressed. Today, I took it for the old blade to be replaced with a new blade, which I provided, a 5 minute job! The employee went to my car to get the mower and asked me If I could help him take the mower out of the back of my car. It is a battery operated plastic mower, and no battery was in it. I am a 74 year old woman and had placed it in the car by my self. Even so, I helped remove the mower from my car. I was then told I would have to leave it, and it would be the first of the week before it would be ready. This was on a Friday. I questioned this, as it appeared to be a 5 minute job. I was informed I had 40 jobs ahead of mine and I couldn’t expect to be put ahead of them. I suggested it was a 5 minute job, but was told a mechanic couldn’t put my job ahead of the other 40. I asked If it required a, “mechanic,” to simply put on a new blade, and was told by this employee that he worked in, “Parts,” and couldn’t do it. I left with my mower, and called Bob’s Power Equipment in Vestavia, and was told they could do it while I waited. I took it there, and the job was done in 5 minutes, by very nice and accommodating employees without even removing it from the back of my car! Even though that location is further for me to drive, I will be using them in the future! I would give the Valleydale location no stars, but that doesn’t appear to be an option! 5 stars for the Vestavia location!"
"We have always had our lawn equipment serviced at Bob's Power and Equipment. Was thrilled when they finally opened up a location on Valleydale rd. Needless to say it is a much closer drive from our house. We have always been pleased with the repair work and customer service that we have received at Bob's. Jeff and Daryl are always willing to advise and answer any questions my wife and I may have.Went in today to look at string trimmers. They had a great selection and great prices. Jeff was very helpful in helping me with my decision. I'm very happy with the purchase I made. I would highly recommend Bob's Power and Equipment to anybody."
