"My first salon experience here at Hayah Beaty was on Nov. 10, 2023. My stylist was Darrius Peace. After my consultation with him weeks before, he recommended that I try a sew-in to give my hair a rest. I’m glad that I did. My new hair style was very manageable and easy to just get up and go. He gave me a new look that still made me look and feel like myself. I was hesitant about going natural at first until my friend recommended that I try Hayah Beauty. Everyone there were very friendly upon arrival and after I left the salon. Thanks Darrius for making my first experience at Hayah Beauty a memorable one."

"I want to begin by stating this my personal experience, and others may have had better. In recounting my personal salon experience, I arrived promptly, 15 minutes ahead of my scheduled time. You also have to pay ahead to book, which is understandable. When I arrived, the door is locked so you have to wait for the host to open it. It was swiftly opened by a friendly host who, after checking the computer, revealed my stylist would be Navaro. However, Navaro's demeanor appeared less than enthusiastic, possibly due to a client currently in his chair. Observing the ongoing service, it was evident that the prior client's hair was only partially done, signaling a potential delay. Regrettably, my actual appointment didn't commence until 11:40, during which Navaro's communication was minimal. The host, occupied with watching another stylist, informed me of further delays. When finally attended to, Navaro, seemingly unorganized, fumbled with clippers and required assistance from another stylist to get situated. Upon expressing my desired short, even hairstyle with a reference picture, Navaro began cutting. He later held up the mirror, mentioning a slight alteration to the sides and maintaining length on top. Accepting the result, we proceeded to the wash bowl, where Navaro used a $90 shampoo, suggesting I could purchase it directly from him. Returning to the chair, Navaro used a hard gel for curls, a choice I only realized later, realizing a more suitable alternative could have been suggested. Normally, a curl cream, foam, or curl gel is used, which allows the hair to be soft but have definition. The type he used is similar to what you used with an spritz, for a style like a French roll, a surprising choice. I was then taken to the dryer, while he briefly explained the concept of words on the dryers that had affirmation. I can’t say I was feeling “wonderful “ at this point. While under the dryer for an extended period, no check-ins occurred, and I turned it back on twice myself , just to ensure it was dry. After it turned again. I sat in the wait area, hoping he’d remember he still had a client. After a few minutes, he then came and advised I could follow him to the chair. Post-drying, Navaro applied excessively a shining serum, and again advised me I could purchase this particular product upfront with a cost of $25. The stylist then showed me the mirror, leaving me feeling devastated. I just thanked him for the service, as I had other pressing engagements as it was already late. As I said bye, the closet stylist, sensing my disappointment, said I looked “beautiful”, which I thank her for being encouraging. While leaving the host stared at my head dumbfounded while saying goodbye, confirming my thoughts. In reflection, the lack of communication, extensive wait times, and unexpected costs made the overall service feel lackluster. An appointment at this salon normally runs from $175 to $180, but I didn’t see this reflected in my style or experience. While acknowledging there may be exceptional stylists at the salon, my personal encounter raises reservations about recommending it, especially given the substantial price tag for what turned out to be a less-than-ideal experience."
