"Sarett’s Brown Sanctuary is a lesser trafficked sanctuary in Benton Township on Woods Road. It is owned and maintained by Sarett . There’s a little bit of a lot here. A bird watchers paradise I’m told. Wetlands, waterways, woods and prairie. The trails are marked and you can meander in here for about two miles if your looking for distance. There’s some decent hills and if it’s wet some of the hillside trails can be treacherous. Lots of wildflowers popping right now and the turtles and frogs are hanging around. Older kid friendly, not handicap accessible , free and no facilities. There is a small parking area right at the sign."
"This was a cool little trail. It has an overlook, some grassy plains, some Marsh eco systems. Most of the trail was maintained but we also had a few storms and looked like it hit parts of the trail. Some of the paths had fallen trees that blocked the path so could not tell how much further the lowland part of the trail went. I liked that there was some nice steep hills and definitely gave the ol hammies a workout. There was a duck blind wall which was cool but the last section of the plank board walkway was a bit iffy so be careful it held me but wasn't so sure I should have attempted it. There were tons of water fowl around did not see any land animals. It's pretty quiet in that area and very secluded. I would suggest hiking with a buddy and bringing a pole to walk with some areas were soft and it helps to bring a pole to test the footing of the earth. The parking area is very small maybe 4-5 cars can easily fit. Dog friendly. Happy hiking and go out and explore."
