"Fun short trail (1 mile loop some short steep inclined). Has spur to view lake"
"Franklin is one of just several hiking trailheads that gets plowed through winter in this region of the forest. The trail and adjacent campground make an excellent snowshoeing area. A lengthy connecting trail system is available here for hikers and backpackers. It includes a number of designated dispersed campsites that can be used at no cost. One can hike from here all the way to Anvil or Luna-White Deer Campgrounds provided the requisite time and energy. A vault toilet at the trailhead is open year-round. The adjacent campground has drinking water available from May through early October. Parking costs five dollars; forest-wide parking passes are also accepted."
"Beautiful trail in the forest between Franklin lake and butternut lake. It has access to butternut lake and you can cross over to the Franklin lake campgrounds, lake view trail and Franklin lake beach. Good for swimming and hiking in warmer seasons and snowshoeing in winter."
