"Uncle Tom’s is a must stop when you are in Door County. It’s great for kids and adults. Dr. Mueller and his family are always so kind and welcoming and will bend over backwards to provide you with the local hospitality Door County is known for. I couldn’t believe the owners make all of the candy right in the store. The location is only a short drive from Sister Bay and easy stop when headed to Washington Island. We always get some bright and fudge for the ferry ride but somehow it’s always gone before the ride back. I also love to look at all the old police and fire patches in the store. This place is a time capsule of generations past and it’s so neat that it’s located in an actual old school house. Thanks for giving me and my family memories for a lifetime."
"Haven't had the pleasure of being to the store. But really enjoyed the chocolate that they offer. Would recommend the Dark Chocolate Caramel Sea Salt, Strawberries n' Cream Chocolate Bark (when in season), Mint Oreo (super light on the mint which is nice), and any of their seasonal offerings which are always great to try out."
"We didn't go to the candy store, but we did buy Uncle Tom's Dark Cherry candy at a coffee shop in northern Wisconsin while on vacation. I sent an email and left a voicemail sharing our disappointment with the candy, which tasted like it was made from cheap waxy chocolate wafers, with what seemed like shavings from less than one cherry. It truly was horrible. We would have gone back to ask for a refund but we had already left the city when we tried it. I thought contacting them would give them a chance to make it right -- but that can't happen when no one can take the time to respond. So, alas, I have taken to posting about it. If you see this candy or shop, pass it up. Or contact me and you can have what's left of our overpriced candy (which we wouldn't consider overpriced if it was quality chocolate that actually contained cherries). --- followup to owner's answer: Therapeutic? That's funny. An acknowledgement of any sort would have been nice; a refund or replacement with something else would have earned you a customer for life. Your loss."
"Get the peanut brittle. Go out of your way to get it. Edit: 7-26 While the candies are still good and some are hit and miss, I think the new owners would benefit to understand why the people come here. It's tradition. If you remove the tradition you'll have customers that won't come back. These are people who are bringing their kids up to show them what they had the many years before. I understand that changes are always a good thing, but when your operating a place with such a long standing history, the changes should come as gradual as time does. The cherry walnut brittle was a miss as the cherries get to gummy and sticky. However, the frosted lemonade was very good. I would like to recommend sprinkling some True Lemon crystallized lemon over the top of a batch while it's cooling. I believe this would really take it to a new different level."
"Such a neat store found off the beaten path! The fact that it is in an old school house is amazing. There is a huge selection of gifts and treats. The customer service is excellent. Ryan was very helpful in putting an order aside for me. My husband and I drove two hours from one get it. We love the store, especially the dark chocolate cashew brittle and caramel sea salt candies! Yum!"
