"Love this place, I've never got the chance to camp here but I have spent some days here. Love the hiking here. Beautiful scenery. Family-friendly trails. They have kayaks to rent at the main part of the park."
"Love this place ANY time of the year! Today was foggy, windy with drizzle. Still, 60°, though. While most services in the park are closed up for the winter, I’m okay with it. Fewer people and more parking. Since Lake Michigan was choppy, I went for a walk through the sand hills. (Not recommended if your heart isn’t as good as… you know). Anyway, I’m not done yet. But I’m inspired!"
"Like all Michigan State Parks this one did not disappoint. The issue we had is the gate worker did not give us a map to our campsite. My husband was not aware there are 3 different campgrounds. Then the map they gave us needed to be updated. It look like it had been copied over 100 times. Plus they were all out of there trail maps. Other than that is was a great park lots to see and do. Campsites are tight not a lot room for big rigs tight turns."
"Gorgeous views. The lighthouse trail is easy but 1.5 miles each way. The trek through the dunes is another at least 1.5 miles in the sand. Some other trails, like the island trails etc, are much better for hiking. Very popular place! Get there early! They rent kayaks! Tons of fun in the lost lake area. We will return for more hiking."
"Stopped to camp here for 1 night and it exceeded our expectations. The beach was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of bike paths, paved and gravel/sand. Campground was clean with plenty of space for our 2 tents. Nice fire ring. Bathrooms with showers were well maintained and close by. Kids loved it. We could have spent another 2 days here exploring if we had the time. Every camp site in the park was occupied so it does get a bit crowded. If you wanted to be isolated from people there are plenty of long remote hiking trails to get away on."
