"A great place for kids to develop their acting skills in a non-competitive atmosphere! Truly, this theater is dedicated to giving every actor a chance to shine in a way that I have never seen before. I've seen other theaters cast the same "stars" in almost every production, and other actors get no lines - not so at Motor City Youth Theatre! It doesn't matter what the actor's experience or skill level is, here the lines are divided up relatively equally, giving everyone stage time. This is especially great news for kids with anxiety, learning difficulties, those new to theater, or just anyone who wants to put on a show on a welcoming and nurturing environment. Recommended!"
"Great little theater for kids to learn the ropes, while building their skills and confidence. Staff is great!... kind yet serious and passionate so the kids know expectations and are ready if/when they decide to go for parts in larger productions in high school or community theaters. Quaint, private building with character! Closed rehearsals so I'm never concerned about my kids being there -- they are in good hands. The older kids mentor the littles and it's an inclusive group where kids have family-like support and encouragement. Between summer camp workshop and other productions throughout the year, these kids get to have tons of fun and build self esteem, while in a safe learning environment. Parents get structured childcare at a very reasonable cost -- and many proud memories of their kids thriving in something they love. A priceless value! Productions themselves are impressive! Stage sets, sound, lighting, and the child actors, from teens to as young as 5 are terrific -- very professional, enjoyable shows with just 100 seats so each one is a great view!"
"My daughter began classes and auditioned for her first play at MCYT when she was six. Her experience here with Nancy and other mentors, families and opportunities through the years has been exceptional, everything from skits, games, plays, musicals and Shakespeare. She now helps assist with younger students and continues having great experiences. Our family and friends have enjoyed every single production throughout the years. Seeing young students do everything from set design, lighting as well as acting, dancing, and singng always puts a smile on our faces."
"We can’t say enough great things about MYCT, Nancy, Erin and the entire crew are phenomenal with the kids. It’s truly a safe, nurturing and educational environment. If you haven’t had the chance to enjoy a show there we strongly encourage you to do so. If you’re a fan of the Off-Broadway type theatre this is the place. The plays are superbly directed and the kids are true GEMS!!!!"
"Small local community theater. Chairs are hard but the lighting, sound, and ambience is great! The theater sell snacks you can purchase before the show and during intermission."
