John Roarty

John Roarty is a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist located at 7001 Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan. He sees patients at Children’s Eye Care’s Clinton Township and Detroit offices, with primary affiliation at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Roarty is also on staff at Ascension St John’s Hospital, Beaumont Hospital, and Hurley Medical Center, where he provides screening for premature babies’ eyes for retinopathy of prematurity in the neonatal intensive care unit.

With a wealth of experience and expertise, Dr. Roarty served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan from 2004-2020. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Kresge Eye Institute, dedicated to providing excellent clinical care in pediatric ophthalmology and educating future physicians in the field. Recognized in Best Doctors in the Midwest and Top Docs in Hour Detroit, Dr. Roarty is also a member of various medical organizations and has published numerous articles and book chapters on pediatric eye conditions.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Roarty enjoys playing squash and spending time with his family. He is currently studying to become a Master Gardener through Michigan State University. Dr. Roarty completed his education at the University of Michigan, Wayne State University School of Medicine, University of California-Davis, Henry Ford Hospital, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, and The Hospital of Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario.
