"My disabled son came to this facility for a Endoscopy and Colonoscopy test, that was supposed to be done stat. He is non- verbal and has lost 30 pounds over a two year period! This was of course after numerous other test, including being told he could possibly have lymphoma. Which turned out to be negative. My son is not mentally or physically able to drink all of the “prep” they recommend. But, he was able to manage about 25% of the solution. Plus upon arrival the doctor who ordered the test knew all of this information. And again! This was a STAT ordered test. Meaning NOW! The doctor who was suppose to perform the test which was a different doctor than who ordered the procedure. Decided to send out his resident to inform me- they weren’t going to be able to see anything in the test since my son didn’t drink all the bowel prep. And advised me to just go sit at the ER with him. This advice made zero sense and what would that actually do for my son? This facility has some of the worst bed side manners I’ve ever experienced. If you have a disabled child or adult you are caring for ! Do NOT bring them here !!!! Then the nurse lied in the after visit summary notes. Never included what they told me only what I said to them! Literally took me back to high school ! Which I hope anyone can imagine it was obviously not nice! My son can’t speak! But I can! And this is discrimination and disrespectful to the special needs community! Disqualified individuals with zero empathy and education!"
"My mom was admitted through the ER she was left alone and fell resulting in several stitches in her forehead. When she was admitted took 3 days before a doctor made contact after 2 request for a call. Nursing staff assumes that the family will do their job as in feeding your loved one just because you are there. They set my mom’s dinner appropriately 5’ from her and when questioned, the nursing staff indicated they do not know when food is brought onto their unit again expecting family to feed and if I was not there would my mom have been fed? Not sure she would have. Staff could never tell me if my mom was up in the reclining chair in her room. Nursing staff will continue to argue with family member and then hide behind security. When you contact the Care Experience Department of course they will side with their nursing staff; however, if someone needs to say to themselves that they are a good nurse (twice) in my experience they probably are not. The staff, including the nurse supervisor could have handled my concerns that night differently. I was driving over an hour one way for a week and a half to see my mom plus working and was extremely exhausted. I hope to never send my mom there AGAIN. If I could have given zero stars I would have."
"I came into the hospital in an ambulance through emergency. I was given a room within the hospital in a relatively short time. The treatment I received within the hospital was incredible. It was efficient, caring, and very respectful! I had never been to this hospital before, but was, I think, fortunate to have been taken there this time. I was in the hospital for 5 days and as that time went on, I began to understand how bad my situation had been. The efforts the doctors, nurses, and other personnel made to care for me and to help me understand what was happening had a big impact on my recovery. Having been to emergency services in other hospitals in the last year or so, I do know that what has been described by others as the emergency service at this facility is not uncommon at other hospitals in the area. I can’t help but think that difficulty getting staff must be part of the problem. Patients in beds lined up along the walls seems not to be a good or even workable solution. I did not experience this during my admission at this time, but have no difficulty believing what I’ve read and understanding what a big problem it is."
"I'm surprised by the low reviews here but they seem to be focused on the ER. I did not go to the ER in West Bloomfield I was transferred to WB for a 6 day stay and surgery. Every single staff member I met (and there were many) was friendly, helpful and generally seemed to actually care. What food I had was fine, which is a compliment for hospital food but the kitchen was really slow. Hospital itself was nice and clean. Again can't speak for the ER but if you're admitted it's a nice place to get better."
