"Very sexist, blamed my pain for my labral tear on other issues. Wants me to do pt again even though I just completed it. Does not include me in the decisioning of my own treatment. The nurse spent more time and showed more empathy than he did. I would not recommend anyone see him. Gives the feeling that he only cares about treating athletes. Anyone else is dismissed."

"I have never had any good experiences with doctors. After tearing my meniscus and dislocating my kneecap Sytsma acted quickly and professionally. He actually treats you like a human being and not just another pay check. Explained in depth what was wrong and how to fix it and got me into surgery quick. Highly recommend if you want someone who genuinely cares and will actually fix the problem at hand. 10/10"

"The best word to describe my experience with Dr. Sytsma is “traumatizing”. Terrible bedside manner with zero individualism toward patients. Paid no attention to my chart prior to suggesting surgery since PT wasn’t working... and then after the surgery seemed to be completely unnecessary, he tried to go back on his words and basically tell me I didn’t understand. When I went back for my 6-week post surgery appt he questioned why I hadn’t gotten any further in PT (essentially blaming me) when HE HADN’T EVEN ORDERED IT YET, something that had been his plan all along. I also informed him that not only was I STILL in pain, but it seemed WORSE and I had no idea how I would even be able to do anything in PT, he pretty much blew me off and told me to grit through it. He was not hearing what I was saying in that SIMPLE activities were putting me down for the day; not just that I was lazy as he insinuated with his word choice and tone. 0/10 do not recommend. I’m 8+ months out of surgery and still daily pain of 8/10 with no answers."

"I have dealt with many doctors over the past weeks (a very difficult, stressful, scary, and emotional time in my life) many of them rude and I was just a number to them, but Dr. Sytsma was so nice, knowledgeable, and most definitely had my best interest at heart. He thought about things and made decisions that will benefit me in the long term instead of being "money driven" he is kind and has excellent bedside manner.
