"This review is purely based on the pool. I'm a local and regularly stop by with my girlfriend. They allow locals to use the pool for $5 per person. While the lobby seems clean and nice, the pool area has definitely seen better days. The ceiling panels are curling, lights are burnt out, cobwebs on the ceiling, water scum everywhere, and green stuff on the walls. They at the very least need to hire someone to power wash the pool room, but what it really needs is a remodel. It just feels kinda gross inside, hence the 3 stars. But I can't give less because the rest of the hotel seems clean and the receptionists are really nice. I haven't stayed in any of the rooms so I can't speak for that."
"Charlevoix is beautiful and worth the visit! Just not staying here. The rooms shown on line that host a view do not have a view of the lake at all. The value for price is not worth it. We paid a higher rate for a view and when we complained we were given a business card for us to call the manager who did not return our calls. The shower in our room was not clean, mildew was evident in the seams of the enclosure and the grout in four places on the floor. We had booked three nights but on the third day greeted with cold breakfast sandwiches, we chose to check out. We did receive a prompt refund so they may be used to this."
"Staff was very pleasant. Rooms were a tad dated but were very clean and Spacious. The shower layout was novel And reminded me of the curvature of the mushroom houses in Charlevoix. We had a backside room that had a nice view of Lake Charlevoix. Very quiet. I enjoyed the privacy of the backs yard with the tall Hedge. Breakfast was decent with the hot meal being biscuits and gravy and a Jimmy Dean breakfast biscuit. We plan on staying there next year when we return."
"10/2/23. 3rd floor king room. Decent amenities but a bad insect problem. Black spiders in bedding and shower. Small crawling knat like insects in window sill and on bedding. Awoke being bitten by something on the chest. Hole in wall next to nightstand wallplug near bed. This is only what we could see. Reported to front desk and was told they would "let housekeeping know." Clearly, this hotel needs more than housekeeping...it needs pest control services. Unacceptable. Would never stay there again."
"We stayed here for one night while passing through the town and while it was nice to know that we were able to stop in and instantly be able to get to rooms without any reservation, I feel with some planning there are for sure better options out there. While the outside of the building was pretty and had excellent parking, the rooms were extremely outdated. They were kept clean, but the utilization of space was horrible. Unless you're here just to sleep and you're visiting family, I would never recommend this place. There's no full-sized bathroom - they're bathroom was literally like, 5 feet long, with the toilet close enough to the shower stall that I could lift my foot while sitting down and rattle the shower door, the door which by the way does not have a handle on the inside, so it is tricky to try and close while inside. There is no sink or counter within the bathroom, so if you're uncomfortable changing out in the bedroom with whomever you're with, please plan ahead for that because changing in this bathroom is horrible, you have no space and you'd have to set everything on the toilet. Also while I'm on the topic of the bathroom I'd like to mention the door to the bathroom was a hide away slide door that had chipping paint and ours had smudges that id perfer not to think about on the inside.. The bedroom as far as space goes is not very great. The bathroom like I said does not have a sink or counter, instead those were put right beside one of the beds, and because of the way that the bathroom is set up, because it's so small, the shower leaves this huge pillar in the corner of the room. So, my roommate kept tripping over my shoes and luggage whenever she rounded the corner to get to toilet or sink areas. Another thing to mention is that they had an external wardrobe. Because there was no built-in closet, that takes up even more room along with the TV stand and a desk that they tried squeezing in there. It's such a tight fit to have two grown adults in this room with 2 beds. I do have to say that staff was super friendly and very accommodating, and they did have a breakfast spread as well as an indoor pool and hot tub for your personal use. Personally. I didn't really care for the breakfast. I was honestly shocked how watered down the orange juice was, and both me and two other people poured it out after a single taste. For some reason, they had bagels that weren't pre-cut. And also, no cream cheese? I stayed at a comfort Inn the night before, and their breakfast was by far better. But I'm trying not to compare too much because the room price difference between the two was like $50, but still, the comfort Inn I stayed at was in the upper peninsula right near the border to Canada so... Anyway, as far as the breakfast goes, they didn't have fresh scrambled eggs or anything like that. The only options were cereal, an oatmeal that you can make yourself, bagels, and frozen breakfast. Sandwiches that they had wrapped up and warmed for you. I'd like to piggyback off of the food talk by moving onto dinner options! We stayed here I believe on a Monday, and we were starving after a long day of traveling, so me and my mom went back down to the lobby to look at the flyers they had sitting by the elevator because I had spotted a pizza joint flyer. We were really excited because they had a keto pizza option. But to be sure, we went up to the front desk to ask if they delivered to the hotel. She said yes, but unfortunately they were closed monday, so she pulled out stack of paper that had a breakdown of all the restaurants in the area and like ninety percent of them didn't deliver to the hotel, and if they did, they were closed that day. She was nice enough to tell us that there was a workaround in that something like three restaurants in the area were on the doordash app? They weren't on Ubereats yet, and we didn't wanna bother with downloading a new app, so we just went hungry till morning."
