"It’s possible I was there on an off night. But this meal was terrible. Three entrees, and they were all dreadful. Cold soup that lacked flavor and clearly wasn’t freshly prepared. Overcooked pasta. Like institution pasta you’d get at a suburban high school. Even the coffee was bad. Outstanding sauce. Truly an outstanding pasta sauce. Slow service from the kitchen and the bar, but the server was responsive and kind. Really great atmosphere. Just a poorly executed experience that soured me on ever going back. And that makes me sad. At this price point, or any price for that matter, I would have expected better. Much better."
"I loved it here. Classy yet casual and cozy. I love the bar area. There are also two separate dining rooms. Fabulous food! We had the minestrone, Italian Wedding and roasted red pepper soups. All are fantastic . For main courses we love the veal marsala, scallapini artichoke chicken, spaghetti with meat sauce and pasta with marinara. Great bread and wine too. If you save room for dessert, the tiramisu and lemon torte are delicious. The wait staff was attentive and fun. I can't wait to go back."
"Customer service was a 10/10. This restaurant is in an extremely old building, looks old from the outside too however well maintained inside and parking in the rear. There are various dining areas and a bar as well. The food is really good, and the atmosphere is really nice too. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the Detroit area."
"A friend had told us this was the go to place for Italian food. Come to find out, that was 15 years ago, and with the previous owners. Apparently a LOT has changed since then. Our server was excellent, our cocktails were excellent, but the food was little on the low end as far as presentation. Little things like sliced white (Italian?) Bread with a small bowl of prepackaged pats of butter really seemed to class the down. The escargot was delicious. My chicken was delicious. Everyone's food was good. But the fact that basically the only noodle type they have is farfalle linguine or spaghetti seems odd. No angel hair. No handmade pasta. While the Italian saganaki sounded delicious, it was just ok. I would go back for the roasted red pepper soup, which was much more fabulous than the minestrone. When I made our reservation, I had asked for a booth or somewhere more intimate. They tried to sit us in the middle of a loud room. We asked for a different table, and they took us to the dining room, which was much more suited to what I had requested. It isn't that the tables weren't available, it was the fact that they didn't read the request, as the request could have been easily honored."
"Great history and food to match. Wait staff open to share the proud history serving since 1890 Detroit history right in Eastern Market. The Tiramsu was light and very pleasing without being heavy a great finish to any entrée. The homemade cabbage soup delicious. All the pasta you can't go wrong with. Stop in if you have a chance."
