"My husband has been coming to SJRMC for over a year for chemotherapy treatments. I have experienced some exceptional nurses who have helped both him and me with understanding all things oncology. But, I am sincerely disappointed in the way the staff take little care of making their patients’ room comfortable. I am constantly cleaning up. There are all kinds of items on the floor because someone missed the waste basket: gauze, empty tape rolls, little cups, caps and the list goes on. This goes on for days before someone cleans it up. There are bags of medicine left in the bathroom, items from OT lying on the floor, etc. the room it is so unkempt. I have had to remind staff on several occasions about the bags of liquid lying around. In addition, I have had to ask for my husbands linens to be changed after seeing blood on the sheets, for a new gown due to it being dirty, and for towels for him to clean up with. Why? If I see it don’t the staff see it? And why wouldn’t you ask your patient if they want new linens after being in the hospital over a week or more? There have been towels etc on the floor in the bathroom for days. Am I as the wife supposed to do the job of the people hired to help the patients? All of this does not help any patient who has to stay in the hospital for days and even weeks. Would you want to live in an untidy mess on a daily basis? Someone needs to address these issues…ASAP."
