"Went here with some friends on a week night. The restaurant was pretty empty but it took a really long time to get our food. Why 5 stars you may ask? Our waiter, Jason, provided some of the best service I’ve ever received. Our group was starting to get a little frustrated with how long the food was taking. Jason provided free shots and was so professional and friendly we left excited to come back. I’ll chalk the slow food up to a fluke, and everything was so delicious it was pretty much worth the wait. Jason would be the first reason to visit and the food would be second."
"Always a great experience. Service is top tier. Local restaurant, hidden gem for some and we like it that way."
"La Dolce Vita Detroit has been a favorite place where a romantic dinner with amazing food and remarkable service has been the norm with few exceptions. The food and service (thank you, chefs, and especially Jason who went above and beyond!) were awesome, as always... However, part of the romance was the sense of a secluded experience with ambient lighting, warm and welcoming muted colors, tapestries, and a setting that made you feel like you were embarking on a special experience. A $150 dinner with wine and dessert for 2 calls for that. Perhaps I'm outdated in this search for a quaint and peaceful night out. There's no doubt that a freshening may have been warranted, and, perhaps, the redecorating is not yet complete, but I worry that our oasis of comfort has been so dramatically changed with stark white walls, removal of the cozy nooks, etc., that it is sending away years-long repeat customers who will seek out anther place where they can find that experience. Given the a-bit-on-the-rough-end location, this is a big risk for a long-established restaurant to displace loyal customers who want more than great food. I hope I'm wrong. When we were on the way in, another couple standing near the valet station literally warned us so we wouldn't be as shocked as they were. That doesn't seem like a good statement for an establishment's success, and I hope the new owners hear this. We truly want them to succeed. We love La Dolce Vita. We'll be back... maybe?"
"I would say the experience was below par. The lights throughout the restaurant would dim and flicker like it’s short circuiting. It was hard to hear my group because they were blasting Christmas music. We waited an hour and 45 minutes for our food and we honestly thought they forgot about us because they started mopping and closing the dining room. When we did receive our food it was lukewarm and wasn’t even that good. I don’t think the price compares to the food we receive."
"Jason our server was an absolute doll. Very polite & well-mannered. He's very knowledgeable about the menu. We came for my brunch. My 13-year old son found this place for my Birthday Brunch. Who doesn't love a good brunch. I chose the Peach Mimosa and paired it with the Eggs Sardou Which is perfectly layer with a fresh English muffin, smoked salmon, artichokes, perfectly poached eggs, and topped off with a silky smooth hollandaise sauce. It comes paired with potatoes that will melt in your mouth. My son chose the Italian Style French Toast. The marscapone sauce that is layered in between is perfectly sweetened to heightened the fluffy goodness of the bread. Then topped off with strawberries, bananas, and dashed with powdered sugar. You are given syrup but it is truly not needed. I kept taking a few bites for myself. Such a yummy treat. We definitely be returning to try their dinner menu."
