"My grandma was admitted into the hospital and they only allowed 2 guests at a time. My uncle came out and 20 min later no one let me in. I haven’t seen my grandma in 10 years and we are up here celebrating her 100th birthday. Not thrilled with the hospitality :( Time is a gift."

"Had to go to urgent care for my daughter today. Alivia lpn and Mr. Thewis NP were amazing. My daughter has big fears about getting nasal and throat swabs. Alivia showed the patience of a saint and came prepared with a popsicle. Awesome teamwork and service."

"I gave birth at family birthplace last year and overall had a very good experience! Dr. Jenna I. was fantastic, encouraging and gentle. I believe she worked hard to try to make me feel safe and respected during labor and delivery. I truly trusted her. She was also very respectful of my specific situation and our family culture and our birth went really smoothly. The hospital was very accepting of me bringing and using my own C.U.B. stool during labor and pushing. We were given glorious privacy during labor to work through contractions… they also made accommodations so baby never had to leave my sight. The rooms were lovely and the nurses were all really friendly and, overall, were very respectful of our choices. The only thing that I wish the hospital would consider updating is their policy on cervical checks. I wanted to decline, or only do one on arrival, because they are so intrusive and really disrupt labor & focus. I was told they were hospital policy and that they were already doing the minimum for me. I felt like I had to comply. I feel that in a non-emergency situation where someone is clearly in active labor, with no complications, and there’s obvious progress (like water breaking and intensifying contractions), the patient should have the say on such an intrusive check. I ended up having multiple checks even for a quick birth and they didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know. In fact, they caused additional stress/ confusion because I didn’t want them and I was dilating so quickly. In this day and age, with all the knowledge of birth we have, the understanding of trauma and the importance of consent, requiring multiple routine checks that are painful and require someone’s hand inside of you should be reconsidered. Please don’t interrupt mamas in uncomplicated, active labor!"

"A friend had a surgery here. I drove them to and from the appointment. I have been blown away by the staff. Patient, kind. Compassionate and professional. So many rules can cause your head to spin, but the kindhearted attitude that flows through the whole organization is unparalleled. I feel so grateful! The buildings are also very clean and nicely decorated. Pleasant experience to be here. I got hungry while I was there. I was encouraged not to leave so I visited the cafeteria reluctantly. I was amazed at the quality and variety but even more surprised at the low cost. If I lived in Ashland, I would make this a favorite place to eat alone or with friends. Not sure if they allow that, but I was impressed! My whole impression of hospitals has changed. I hope other hospitals do what they are doing. It’s a good change."
