STERLING LAKES

"I was a resident of Sterling Lakes for 3.5 years. Everything was good until I vacated in July 2023. I was sent a final settlement with incorrect charges (charged twice for utilities). I made countless calls and E-mails to their Central Billing team and all they said was "they are waiting on the property to respond". Today I received an E-mail from debt collection company asking me to pay my dues. I called up their central billing and they said that my case is not with them anymore and asked me to contact debt collection company directly. This is shocking! I have been following-up with them for past 6 months (and not sure how many more months into the future i need to follow-up) for no mistake of mine. All I get in return was weekly automated E-mails asking me to pay my dues and ultimately sending it to debt collections. If you are ready to deal with this aftermath, you are welcome to stay at Sterling Lakes! I see that Sterling Lakes is responding to reviews. If they call me and fix the things at the earliest, i will update here."

"After viewing a sister property, we had high hopes for this one. My husband and I work and are in school so we have many days that we are unavailable. Thankfully, they were able to schedule us in for a tour! We got to our appointment right on time, but unfortunately, no one was in the office. My husband, toddler, and I waited 15 minutes and still did not see anyone come through the offices. We weren’t able to call anyone because they were not there to answer the phones. The sign said they were out of the office giving a tour. I thought maybe there was miscommunication in regards to the schedule, but I was still upset we came all the way out there with our kid only to turn around and have to leave. I called the number to Sterling Lakes to let them know we had left, and no one answered. There wasn’t an option for a voicemail, so I found on the website that I could text them. Later, I received a call back. I explained to the lady that we had arrived for our appointment, yet no one was there. She said back to me “Sorry, would you like to reschedule?” Since there was no reason given for them missing our appointment, I asked if it had been scheduled for another day. She said it hadn’t, and we must have just missed eachother because only two people are in the office. In the past, we have had poor experiences with another apartment’s management. They were hardly ever available (by phone or in the office) and didn’t address our questions and/or concerns. This experience with Sterling Lakes management gave off the impression that they would act in a similar manner. We hope this isn’t a pattern for this property, but it definitely caused us to cross off Sterling Lakes from our list."

"If i could give them a ZERO I would. Black mold everywhere and they did nothing about it. Leasing office employees change every month, they're all really rude and don't care. We lived there for almost 5 years. Maintenance was always awesome and very nice. Walls are paper thin. There was always trash everywhere all over the complex as well as the dumpsters overflowing all the time. It was gross. Rent was way too high to have to deal with loud neighbors and a trashy neighborhood."

"Moved in here February 23. Couldn't ask for a better apartment complex. Office and maintenance staff are very helpful and take their work very seriously. I've had to speak to them on many occasions for various issues not really relating to the property but something else. The appliances and the build quality of the units are excellent and everything is built solidly. The garage I added on is also very nice and can fit a large and wide car. Obviously, price is high for a small apartment, but I think it is priced accordingly for the quality of the unit and the area. I value the location because I don't drive more than a minute to get to the area I work or the gym, and this is very important as time and money is saved in commuting. Avoiding unnecessary frustration is a good thing. Amenities are also excellent and there are many nice restaurants and shops around. The company that owns the complex is family owned, so they care about their properties and are not some mega corporation or REIT that could care less. Also not a slumlord. There is high demand for the complex. I don't like the new speed bumps but whatever makes people happy I guess. I'll just keep frustrating people by taking 30 seconds to drive over them."

"We have been here since October and it is one of the worse choices we have made. It’s a very expensive complex and thought we were getting into a safe area with nice people and great management.. well we were wrong . For starters there are several kids running around and people drive so fast and do not stop.. we have almost been hit twice now just walking . People do not stop at stop signs coming out of the individual streets. Neighbors are rude and do not care what so ever. Someone hit my car and didn’t leave a note and I know it was at the complex because my car sits because I work from home. Management will say one thing but tell you another just to get you to move in.. made this place sound like a dream like they care when they don’t . We want out of of our lease and can’t get out with a huge fee .. even though apparently they have a “waiting list” Only good thing I can say is the maintence staff cares and they are the only good thing about this place. For the prices of these apartments they are not worth it.. you can find something much bigger , nicer neighborhood and better management for the price you pay. Also walls are paper thin you hear everything . People slam doors and it shakes your entire apartment. Anyone have pets and it’s like you own them too. Would never choose sterling lakes mason if i could go back"
