"Absolutely NO communication with patients about their case or medication that they're forced to take. The psychiatric floor is a JOKE. They say they'll keep family up to date and they absolutely do NOT. They just kept my fiancé there with absolutely no communication with him about anything, including changing the names of his heart medications or even letting him know that he was being given them. They just gave him medications and made him take them. Also kept him AFTER his 24 hour hold was up with NO explanation. He was held almost 60 hours! THEN they shipped him off to a facility over 2 hours away without allowing him to contact me or his mother or telling him that they were planing to do so. Not to mention how absolutely rude, judgemental and unprofessional Dr. Mercy Isang was to my fiancé and to me. Called to get my side of a story and my opinion, was talking on the background the entire time, basically told me what I felt, thought and recommended didn't matter. Hung up on me!!! Grievance is being filed ASAP. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES THERE!!!!!!"
"One of the best hospitals. They do the right thing. They don’t blow off your concerns because you’re young or say it’s anxiety. I have been having chest pain running for a month and they did appropriate testing and didn’t just write me off. Dr Elbash (who is super nice) found my blockage of 99% in the widow maker and Dr. Querishi fixed it. They kept coming in my room every few minutes to make sure I was okay. All my questions were answered regardless of how stupid the questions were. I drive an hour away for my care here when I could get my care in Indy. The people, physicians, and nurses here make the difference. I would always come here for my care."
"I've been admitted several times due to anxiety. The first time was because of a panic attack. I had an accelerated heart rate and was not coherent what so ever. On my next visit one of the nurses told me all the staff and even doctor that took care of me that night had made fun of me which is not professional at all. On other occasions I go because my blood pressure sky rockets and it's not stabilized before leaving, instead I get talked down to as if I'm dumb or a child. On top of it all I've lost circulation in my left arm several times making it go blue and have squeezing pains and every time they tell me, "I don't know" instead of looking into it. They constantly slap "anxiety" onto every problem I have without further looking because I have anxiety. Even when I know I'm not having an anxiety attack or anxious. They let EMS patients go first into the ER other than patients who have been waiting over an hour to go back. If I could give 0 stars I would. Never will I go back to this hospital ever again, no matter what emergency I'm having. It's not all the doctors or nurses, it's mainly ER."
"I've been here multiple times. Mainly because it is the only one in town. Service is hit or miss. Usually not a good experience. Over the years things have not improved. When I was pregnant and they had to induce me they never turned me on my side or rotated once during the twelve hours. The only bright spot was the gentleman who did my epidermal did an excellent job.. I had to have an episiotomy when I went into labor. Later that night I was in a lot of pain and asked for pain medication. The nurse was very rude and told me that "just because you can have pain medication doesn't mean you should." I was so mad and insulted. Terrible experience and more painful than it needed to be. Other nurses in the mother baby unit were a little better but I was glad when I got to leave because I wasn't treated like I was a criminal when they were ready for me to leave. When I had exploratory surgery there to find the cause of my abdominal pain they used something that wasn't clean because I had a nosocomial infection within a day and I had not touched or changed the dressing on my incision site. My stomach became hard and even turned purple. I went back to have them fix it because the pain was so unbearable. They did take responsibility but there was no apology. There have been times when I needed to go to the hospital and was treated with respect but the nasty times greatly outweigh the good. Things have been getting better at the hospital and they do have some good people working there but there is definitely a difference in how you get treated based on who is working at the time."
"Zero stars. I hate doing that because the heroes of that hospital are the cleaning staff because they will help you at the drop of a hat. That is my only positive thing to say. It is one of the most prolific and life threatening flu seasons we have ever had and there are NO flu precautions, which would include only immediate family to visit and no one under the age of 18. There were children running around the ICU. Again...there were CHILDREN running around the most critically ill patients in their care with patients’ doors open to any airborne illness that wanders in. Anyone can walk right into the ICU and probably any other floor unescorted. Bedside manner is a joke. Physicians will not be honest with you, or avoid you all together. Went a whole 24 hours without speaking to a physician. When they do rounds they will not include the patient or their family. Tried to join rounds only for my family member and they lied to me and told me they had not started yet. Then they rounded and I had to stop them to fill me in and no valid information was given. Had my family member transported as soon as they were stable to give them a real chance, and they didn’t even sedate them prior (standard protocol), so they had to be sedated in the ambulance from being confused, scared, and agitated. If I am dying and my only option is Reid Hospital, take me to a veterinarian or let me die."
