Stark State College CDL Training Center

Stark State College CDL Training Center, located at 2270 Picton Parkway in Akron, Ohio, offers comprehensive truck driving training programs that can be completed in just eight weeks or less. The training includes classroom sessions, behind-the-wheel range training, and open road training. Students can choose between Class A CDL training with tractor-trailer vehicles or Class B CDL training with a variety of vehicles. The center also prepares students for the hazardous (H endorsement) written exam during the program.

The training classes are offered on a flexible schedule, with options for full-time day track or evening/weekend classes. Students can choose between non-credit training or a College Credit Commercial Driver’s License Career Enhancement Certificate. This certificate includes additional classes and prepares students for in-demand skills and certifications in the transportation industry.

To enroll in the training programs, students must meet certain requirements, including a valid Ohio driver’s license with no restrictions, passing a drug assessment and DOT physical, and securing funding for the program. Class sizes are small, and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. The center does not conduct CDL skills/testing, but helps students schedule testing appointments at approved locations.

Stark State College CDL Training Center is a registered training provider for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations. Students can apply for financial aid for the College Credit Career Enhancement Certificate program by completing the FAFSA. The center is dedicated to providing high-quality training for aspiring commercial drivers to help them succeed in the industry.
