"When I first knew we were going to be treating him at the James, I was relieved. It’s “The Iames.” THE Cancer Hospital. However, over the last month I have seen firsthand the incompetence and complete lack of communication between nurses, doctors, etc. over and over again. I have watched my father suffer due to their negligence and inability to simply read a chart. They do not communicate with family/caregivers/poa as needed to be sure there is an understanding of their loved one’s diagnosis and prognosis I. I have spoken with patient experience and have yet to see any improvement in the quality of care. I understand this is a “teaching hospital” however, if you cannot teach these students to communicate properly, and treat the whole patient, then you are absolutely failing in their education. Not to mention, have a little respect for your patients who are processing their life changing diagnosis’. Do not yell across the hallway to your coworker, “are you okay in there? Oh okay, thought your patient was dying!! Ha.” I wish you could have seen the look on my father’s face when you said that."

"The surgical team was very professional and prompt. They explained every step, making me feel very comfortable... The staff on the 20th floor was amazing. I felt so at home and cared for. Nurse Nadja is just the sweetest and beautiful inside and out. Nurse Jen went out of her way to help me with my comfort. The PCAs were kind and considerate. Brittney, Lauren, and Jay were all amazing, but Silas was exceptional, making sure I had everything I needed. Last but not least, Dr. Cosgrove was a God send. Thank you for making my stay the best it could be considering."
