"My wife and I with our two daughters went here to celebrate my oldest daughters birthday. My daughter chose to eat at this restaurant after hearing great reviews from friends. This was our first experience with a French restaurant. Our diner reservation was at 5:30 on a Wednesday but honestly we did not need one at that time, we had the place to ourselves. We decided to try the Charcuterie appetizer with both cheese and meat. It was a great start! It also came with some French bread, pickled onions and sweet pickles. For our entrees I had the Cordon Bleu, my wife had the Orange Chicken, my oldest had the Beef Bourguignon and my youngest had a simple cheese burger with fries. We all shared a bite of each others dish and I must say everything was perfect! My Cordon Bleu was light and crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside, delicious with the Dijon mustard and Smashed Potato. My wife's Orange Chicken was a gamble for her when she ordered (there wasn't a good description) it but she loved it and said she would definitely order it again. It was a seasoned blackened chicken breast covered with a orange sauce, reminded me of an orange marmalade. My oldest daughter's Beef Bourguignon was a pretty thick beef stew with a uniquely delicious flavor. Even my youngest daughter's burger and fries was delicious, the fries were extra crispy and in my opinion perfect. All and all what started as a different place to try turned into a great experience that we will be returning to. Also I can't leave this review without saying that Lili (our server) was top notch. Thanks Lili for taking good care of our table!"
"Dining at Chez Renee was a pleasure. Milford is quickly growing, and the amount of dining establishments is rapidly increasing as well. I'm so glad we decided to stop in and give Chez Renee a try (we for no good reason tend to always pass this gem by but not now). We were seated immediately. The wait for table service was not unreasonable given it's a small establishment with a small staff. The waitress' recommendations were excellent. The food was amazing, fresh, and clearly prepared with care. We left dinner and decided to visit the bar next door. Once again was not disappointed and pleasantly surprised. The drinks and drinks menu was good. The bar was tender by the server and owner. We had a lovely conversation with them both and an overall wonderful evening. Chez Renee is charming, has quality food and service, and is now definitely on our top list of restaurants to frequent. I wish I would have taken pictures to post."
"Excellent food, quaint setting, horrible service! It is a shame that a restaurant with first-rate food has such horrible service. I should have read the reviews before going as there are many 1- and 2-star reviews over several review platforms detailing the appalling service and lack of customer care from the management/owner. These low reviews span over 5 years, so clearly not a function of the recent pandemic worker shortage. My personal experience in 2023 is that the attitude of the owner/manager hasn’t changed over the years. Here is a list of the less than stellar experiences I had on my first visit: CHECK-IN- No formal place to check in. Found a worker with an iPad in hand and she told us to sit in the bar to wait for a table to open up. We had a reservation and asked if she needed our name and she replied that she did not. Seemed a bit strange for a crowded restaurant on a Saturday night. Fortunately, the wait in the bar was very short. WAIT TIME- The wait at the table for service was interminably long- about 35 minutes. Note that the dining room was a small space with 6 or 7 tables, half 4-tops, half 2-tops and 3 servers buzzing around. Despite the fact that the tables are about 8 inches apart (don’t come here to share secrets with your group!), none of these servers stopped to say hello or ask us for an order. We finally flagged one of the servers down to ask who our server was. She said she didn’t know, but would get us started with drinks and an appetizer. We were thrilled until receiving these items took another 20+minutes. The appetizer was simply bread and brie. DINNER ORDER- A server finally appeared to take our dinner order. We had another long wait for our meal to appear and watched the tables on either side of us move through 3 courses and dessert all while we were waiting. DISCUSSION WITH MANAGEMENT- I shared all of the issues so far with the Owner, Cathy. She apologized and said she would take care of our meal. This is where a problem of semantics or cultural differences arose. Note that Cathy is a native French speaker. In most restaurants, when the owner or maître de says that they “will take care of your meal” that means that they will comp the bill for the bad service and issues. Going by her words, we left a generous tip for the server, despite the issues, and left fully believing that our meal was comped based on what she said. Imagine my surprise when she called several hours later (near 11pm) to demand that I return to pay my bill. Clearly this was a monumental misunderstanding. She claimed that comping our bill was not what she meant, but that is what she said. Seeing that there was a clear language comprehension barrier, I told her I would be glad to pay the bill over the phone with her. We completed the transaction to her satisfaction. Unfortunately, despite the lovely food, the lack of service and disorganization of staff procedures (i.e. the bar tender took 32 minutes to make one cocktail despite no one at the bar- we checked, because she did not know how to make the drink that was listed on their menu: French Connection. Google French Connection- it simply equal parts Amaretto and Cognac. That’s it. Not a drink worthy of 32 minutes to make….)"
"Love this little gem in the heart of downtown Milford. We were planning on The Governor, but after looking at their unappealing menu, since I'm a picky eater, we walked by and saw this place instead. So glad we did and we will definitely be back, especially to try dinner, dessert, and wine! My husband had the goat cheese and honey burger and I had the Brie burger. Wagyu beef patties and oh so yummy! The French decor, music, and great service only added to the ambience! Love this place!"
"Holy this place is yummy! We had reservations and we were seated immediately. Our food did not disappoint. 6 of us plus a toddler and we all shared our food. Consensus was our favorite dishes were the scallop risotto and the cordon Blu. But in all reality every dish was so good! Coming back very soon!"
