"The best part of living in GGP is the staff! Marla, Taylor and the maintenance guys are always pleasant even under the unfortunate situation Highmark has put them in. Highmark has not been transparent with the staff or the residents regarding all the issues the building has. Regardless of the situation the leasing and maintenance teams have always been willing help how they can. They get 5 stars but Highmark gets nothing."
"Broken elevator, Broken pool, broken AC, numerous burnt out light, broken door closers, broken motion detectors, very poor lighting in apartments and garage, garage is filthy, very poor general maintenance, apartments do not have return air grills so a humidifier is required. Management keeps on-site staff in the dark about everything. It is an amazing location so it’s a shame upper level management doesn’t realize what they have. There is no reason why this complex doesn’t have a waiting list if it was properly taken care of."
"Our unit could not have been more disappointing. The place was filthy, the bedroom door wouldn’t shut, the TV didn’t work, the shower leaked all night, and the place smelled like dog urine. We actually slept with all of the lights on our one night there to keep the likely cockroaches at bay. We left the place after one night, leaving 5 nights of the unit unused, hoping to get a refund. But of course we’ve been dealing with the run-around from customer service for now 72 hours. The pictures they show online are not remotely representative of the unit. Remember your friend’s disgusting apartment junior year of college? Pictures of that apartment would be more representative of the unit you’ll have at Grand Gables. The place is a dump and customer service is a nightmare. Thankfully we were able to secure a place at Fontainebleau for relatively the same price we paid for this disaster. Find other accommodations."
"The semi-permanent pool closure (since May 2022) is a major nuisance for sure. But the fact that the pool is leaking from the pool deck and into the garage is terrifying. A similar leak is listed as a likely factor contributing to the Surfside building collapse in Miami in 2021."
"To all those looking at Gables Grand Plaza Apartments as an amenity based community, do yourself a favor and ask for a tour. I will stick with my primary concern, as you pick and choose your battles in a community owned and operated by Starwood Properties. "Dear Residents, We have exciting news for all of you. Starting on Monday, May 23, 2022, we'll be having the pool refinished along with addressing any leaks in the parking garage. In order to complete this project, we’ll need to close the pool area temporarily to have it ready for your enjoyment this Summer. We will be sure to keep you informed of any updates along the way. Thank you for your patience while we are enhancing the beauty of Gables Grand Plaza. Have a great weekend, Gables Grand Plaza Management" 6/16/2022 we did get an update, which basically stated they are not finished, and more to come. Last summer, the pool was also closed for the majority of the time for some unknown reason, and during the winter the pool heater did not work for 3 months. With or without having kids, you can understand our frustration. In closing, my rent increase of 39% (Yep, just started in June) in combination with a lack of communication and respect for the tenants living here played into my decision to inform future tenants of the manor in which Starwood Properties has been treating its residents for quite some time now. If I were moving in, I would also ask for details on the work being done. Water leaks into the garage and it looks like more than cosmetic work is being performed. The second image illustrates an unsafe railing that should have been secured immediately! Starwood owns both the property, as well as the management company, so I must mention, the front of the house is kind and maintenance is more than happy to assist. That said, we feel disrespected and are unhappy with the execution of these decisions, and that we were not informed of what looks to be a structural reinforcement that is much more complicated than pool resurfacing prior to resigning our lease, outside of a vague addendum that stated construction was ongoing in the building (20 months of renovations and counting) We would have made other arrangements as the "heated" pool was a major attraction and reason for living here."
