Aloft Coral Gables

"Lifetime Titanium Elite and in town for a conference. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in my 20 years with Starwood/Marriott. The check-in staff did ok, the food at the bar was garbage and almost inedible. The room was dirty, carpets damp and smelly, the bathroom had pubic hair in the shower and floor, the bed was unmade. I called to get my room cleaned and they told me they were short staffed. The air conditioning rattled and high pitch moaned all night, which resulted in very little uninterrupted sleep. When I returned to my room the next afternoon after my conference at 5pm the room had not been cleaned. I called down and they said they were short staffed and the room would be cleaned the following day (I checked out the next day lol). I asked them to send someone down or switch me to a clean room and they said they would call me back (they never did). I walked out and had an ambassador from Marriott call to arrange for the second night not to be charged. A case was opened and I was told that it was taken care of (it wasn’t). I moved to the SLS Lux (highly recommend). I received my folio the next morning showing charges for both nights. I called Marriott again and they reached out to the hotel and I was told they would resend the folio with the correct charge, however they resent the same folio showing both charges. I spoke to Marriott again and they called the hotel a third time only to find out there is no manager on duty until 2pm and that it was the person at the front desks first day on the job. Then we were told by a “supervisor” there is no way for them to change the folio and issue a new one (lol - huh?). Literally the most incompetent staff I have come across in probably a decade. I will never stay at this hotel or an Aloft brand again. Steer clear of this place if you have any expectations for an experience consistent with the Marriott brand promise."

"This hotel is in the middle of coral gables in a great and central location. Walking distance to all areas. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The bar was nice and had a variety of drinks. The only thing is the elevators are rather small, and the carpets throughout were very dark. Gave a gloomy feeling."

"We have stayed at aloft hotels in different countries and our experience here has been the worst we ever had. You cannot park your car yourself and valet parking is 30 dollars a night. I only needed the parking for one evening but was charged for four days. I brought up the additional charges and they were going to credit them back which I have not seen yet. We ended up staying an additional night due to flight changes and noticed that they charged me again for parking a vehicle. I was billed for an additional room deposit for the one night extension also even though that had already done so when we originally checked in. When we arrived, there was no greeting of any type from the desk staff, simply asked if we had a reservation. There is no restaurant in the hotel and also no shuttle service to the airport. Rooms are well laid out but we noticed the soundproofing was poor as you will hear everything. Will not be using this hotel again as there are better choices in the area."

"My wife and I thought the room and hotel were good. The bed was very comfortable. We had an issue with the valet but the staff and management got right on it and made sure that it was taken care of above and beyond. I would definitely stay there again."

"Clean and safe location. The check-in front desk folks were super nice and welcoming; however, the evening crew was not as friendly. It was disappointing that the bar/happy hour was not available on a Sunday. We were looking forward to spending our evening in the lounge area for appetizers and drinks since we had an extra early flight the next morning. Cool tip: The front desk can coordinate that early morning transportation for you! The rooftop pool was refreshing."
