Laurel Oaks Apartments

"02/12/24 Don’t know what happened to the old maintenance guys (don’t see them anymore) but the place looks like trash now. All I see is trash everywhere and I have already communicated with front office about it. FIRST AND FOREMOST I HOPE YALL ARE TREATING THE LAKE/POND BECAUSE WHY AM I GETTING CONSTANTLY GETTING BITTEN—FIX THIS** updated just to say that. The Review: Ive lived here for a year now. I guess you get what you get for the price. Since the rent increase in Tampa it’s been hard to find something decent for a reasonable price. This place is sad. The walls are so THIN! You hear your neighbors and downstairs. The apartments are old, it’s the type where they just keep repainting over. The stairs are old and rotting, they need to be replaced and CLEANED. Before I signed my lease I asked if the vents and the ac unit could be cleaned. They never were. I asked if the dish washer worked because it was rusty, it leaked the first day. The door doesn’t even close properly you can see light coming thru. Meaning bugs! I would like to say I have seen roaches, but I only had one month where I saw like 5. Other that I barely see any. Probably one every few months or so. (I attached the products I bought) also I HIGHLY recommend fogging your apartment and getting a carpet cleaner before moving in!!!!! I fogged before I moved in and doused the apartment in roach spray, I want to say this is the reason I don’t really see the roaches. I did wet vac before moving in but I should have hired a cleaner because the carpet was just full of DUST. If you’re in need of a cheap place (this might be different for the bldgs that just finished renovations) this is it but other than that I couldn’t recommend living here. The only good things are the price, the size of the apartment, some of the appliances seem new/decent (fridge and microwave). Also who has a fridge that opens the opposite way. It’s inconvenient!! Minerals in the water. Hard water spots on my dishes. When I first washed dishes here, I thought I may have dried them incorrectly or something, so after washing them again I noticed that hard water spots had formed. That means that there are mineral deposits from the hard water. I always use dawn powerwash but now it seems like I’ll also have to rinse in vinegar to remove them. Also they don’t recycle. I called and left a vm months ago about it and no one ever reached back."

"Renovated apartments are nice and management is okay at best. I moved out November 2023 and haven’t received my security deposit back and of course when I call AND email I get no answer or any type of acknowledgment from these people. Be aware DO NOT EXPECT TO GET YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK NO MATTER THE CONDITION OF THE APARTMENT"

"I lived here for a year and a half. Maintenance is very fast and efficient; we never waited more than 24 hours for any request. Office staff is friendly and responsive. The grounds are well-maintained and the pond with ducks and other wildlife is pleasant to watch from one of the provided benches or your patio. Residents are friendly and respectful of each other. There is a good mix of students, young working families and older people. Parking was never a problem and I never had concerns for my safety or the safety of my vehicle. The buildings are somewhat older and so show some cosmetic wear and suffer inevitable effects of being older. The walls are somewhat thin, so we always heard our upstairs neighbors and often heard our next door neighbors when they were in their kitchen. If you are a light sleeper, you will need a white noise machine. Overall, one of my best rental experiences in my 15 years in Florida."
