"Wish I could give them no stars! Management and staff are a joke! There rude and very disrespectful! Only thing they care about is money money and more money! The residents deserve so much more! The owners before these new jerseys cared about the people who was renting from them. Now, Goodluck! Save yourself a lot of money and time rent some where else!!!"
"To the litany of reasons why you should not rent an apartment here (see previous reviews), I'll add a few more. The apartments were previously run by a wonderful management company that had warm relationships with the tenants until about 2 years ago when the market rate rent had substantially increased for apartments in the Champions Gate area. At that point a new management company with absolutely toxic staff was brought in by the ownership to slowly push out tenants who couldn't afford the market rate rents in the area. Here's how they did it: 1. Increasing rent by as much as $500 or more at lease renewal. I had many neighbors, including elderly couples, who had no option but to leave. 2. Evicting or threatening to evict tenants on any pretext they could find using language in the lease. For example, tenants who had an occupant in their apartments not listed on the lease were given 7 day vacate notices. This was done using means that were not always legal. In my case, a maintenance person entered the apartment without my opening the door and without prior written notice. When I approached him, he looked shocked and claimed there was a maintenance problem to resolve --there wasn't, and then had the nerve to ask me "how long have you been here?" It was obvious he had been sent by Amy C. from the management office since that same evening a 7 day vacate notice was attached to the front door. Thankfully, I have a background in tenant law--others weren't so lucky... 3. Adding mandatory riders to the lease that forced tenants to pay fees for internet. I spoke to elderly neighbors who found this to be an onerous requirement specifically crafted to drive them out. 4. Management staff are absolutely toxic if residents (perhaps excluding those paying new market rates) ask for any kind of help. I asked Yolanda once when a building alarm that had gone off would be deactivated. Instead of explaining what she/her team had done to fix the problem, she turned red almost as if head were going to explode and exclaimed "I don't know!" I certainly hope she is getting counseling (or other professional help) for whatever is causing her so much bitterness. You'll get better service at a DMV. There are many beautiful apartment complexes in the Championsgate area. Do yourselves a favor and pick a different one."
"My husband and I have lived in half a dozen apartments over the years and we always leave them in the same condition we received them in, usually spending 8-10 hours cleaning upon move out. This is the only apartment in over ten years we’ve been renters at various complexes that has charged us for damages after move out. We received a $200 cleaning fee and were asked to pay an additional $200+ for one window blind that fell off. Meanwhile, when we moved in, the screen on the porch had large holes that were patched with duct tape, our tub faucet didn’t work and was falling off the tile, there were several large cracks in the wall, and other issues to where it was clear no attention had been paid in resetting the apartment after past tenants. (Edit: as an update, the apartment has admitted to us that they only clean units between tenants on an as needed basis, which explains the state of our apartment when we moved in. Apparently, in our case, a few water spots on our kitchen tile and a some dryer lint left over in the laundry room were the cause of our apartment needing a $200 cleaning fee.) In addition to the above, the gate almost never worked in the two years we lived at this complex and the mailboxes are really falling apart, to the point that at one time they were inaccessible to the USPS. The lake is also always full of algae and the apartment staircases and entryways are full of stains from a botched power wash treatment from around the time we moved in. I was honestly embarrassed to have guests visit us when we lived here with how poor of a state the entire complex is in, let alone how run down our unit was. It’s very clear (and was even admitted to us by a staff member) that this complex is having trouble attracting new tenants, so the current tenants who move out are being hit with dishonest fees to make up for the money they are currently losing. Legends at ChampionsGate can’t compete with all the new luxury apartments in the area and they know it. To make up for this, the leasing company has introduced mandatory “services” such as being forced to pay for cable and valet trash. Do yourself a favor and don’t move here. It may look decent on your tour, but the soulless people who run this place are not worth doing business with. If you scroll back through reviews, you’ll see many mentioning the leasing company that took over a few years back, and most mention that the new company is much worse than the original owners. We moved in during the transition to the current leasing company and I wholeheartedly agree. I know long reviews like this can sometimes come off crazy, but I’m just trying to help those looking to move to make a good decision, especially with so many coming to Florida from out of state. I lived at Legends for two years and regretted signing a lease with this complex from the day we moved in. PS- Beware of false advertising with this apartment complex. All of the photos they show in their promotional materials are updated units, which account for a small number of units in the complex. Most units are very run down and look nothing like these photos."
"Be careful if you move here there are lots of bug problems in the apartments and they have big issues with leaving trash out in the bin if no one is coming to pick it up and also they will take your whole deposit if you are late on telling them you want to move out but they don’t understand that life gets in the way so me and my husband are out of 2000 dollars because of this place not only that they won’t even let you use the bathrooms at the gym after hours because of the one bad apple ! So if your looking for a nice peaceful place to live don’t move here"
"Quiet complex and maintenance staff is great! I really appreciate both Anthony and Robert. The office staff are always very friendly and helpful. Being new to the area Tatiana graciously gave us suggestions and insight to what's in the surrounding area. Very nice place to call home!"
