"Quiet and peaceful walking trail… there was a few dead ends… trees have fallen because of hurricane Ian which blocked off a few parts. I saw the cutest armadillo! It was my first time ever seeing one up close in person! Didn’t see any other wildlife but we did see claw marks in a few trees. In my last picture you can see that the tree was growing over the sign, pretty cool! There are no bathrooms or porta potty’s at the trail head or anywhere on the trail."
"Good spot to walk your pets. Storm damage from Ian and the resulting efforts to clean up downed trees, have some rough trails. Lots of deer, birds and apparently wild pigs."
"Great for trail riding, but you have to open 4 gates before you enter to the main riding area to keep the cows in. The way you go in is the way you go out. There is no water supplied for the horses, so bring your own for when you get back. There is a tire with water for the cows by the third gate, but it does look dirty. There are some streams that your horse can drink from, but you have to find them. I have seen an alligator close to one of the small ponds by the last gate going in. Be careful. Bring a map, preferably use the Alltrails app on your phone, and upload a map of someone that has already been there. You can follow that map. Bring a battery pack because the GPS usage will drain your phone's battery. There is low GPS signal here. Use Google Maps on your phone to share your current location with a friend/family at all times. Bring plenty of water for you to drink. You can put a GPS on your horse in case you get separated. It is a big area. Preferably ride with a friend. Try to find out if the place is going to be closed before you drive all the way there with your horses. I have tried looking up information online, but it is difficult to find, and you will get frustrated. They post notices by the entrance. So send someone to drive by just in case or have a plan B if the Preserve is closed."
"Loved the rustic walk. Lots of game trails and plenty to look at. Gotta be careful as there are lots of hogs. My dog tangled with one and fortunately only got a few abrasions. Would be nice if SWFMD would knock down some trails as they are over grown."
"Loved it. Beautiful property. If you are trail riding there are many small gates which I knew, but my horse is great at pushing gates open and shut. These however hinge shut..which I understand why. I'm just not there yet. Fortunately I was with veteran riders accustomed to said gates :)"
