"We had a great time camping. This forest is awesome. The only complaint I have is that the camping sites are too close to the main road."
"Awesome experience. Lots of live oak, magnolia, and pine trees in the forest. We hiked and saw a couple - each driving a horse cart - as well as several equestrians on the unpaved trail. A park official told us we may have to wade through a section of the trail as it was flooded. She was right. We took off our shoes and socks and walked a distance through swamp water. It was an adventure."
"This is a premium primitive site. Only 4 sites. No hookups but nice bathrooms, non potable water and electricity at the pavilion and bathrooms. Also, trash cans on site. This is a clean, well managed active Equestrian site. Lots of trails and logging roads. While there visit the "goethe giant" a 900+ year old cypress tree or head into Bronson to pay respects to Bo Diddle. The site is $10/night and a reservation is required thru the florida state forest website. Cell service weak, T-Mobile 2 bars. However, when I set my phone in the window of my rv, I had 4 bars and was able to stream music, movies and talk on the phone. I guess the aluminum window frame either amplified or concentrated the signal. When I took it off the window, back to 2 bars and no service. It was an odd discovery. Will try to repeat elsewhere."
"Took the light blue/green trail, was a nice little walk, had to turn around when I had .50 mile left due to large amount of water (walking not horseback). I would imagine this is ideal for horseback, but foot traffic is good also when dry. The county road out is a nice drive as well."
"How well u like these trails depends on what ur using them for. They r excellent equestrian trails, which is what they r built for. Not so good for biking or hiking due to sand, mud and standing water, unless u like to ride/ wade thru that stuff. Otherwise stick to the hard packed dirt roads for some nice riding, scenic longleaf pine stands, and solitude."
