Reviews
"I have visited this trail a dozen times over the last 3 years. The 2 most recent visits were very disturbing. Construction began for a new subdivision 3 months ago. Drainage problems that were created now rendered part of the trail unusable. There is now 2 feet of water standing on parts of the trail. There are 2 large puddles of water at the trail head where there never was before. I have genuine concern for the population of gopher tortoises that live in the area......update.... I visited yesterday and the flooding has been corrected...I could use the trail. There is evidence of high water levels from weeks ago but trails are no longer under water. High water lines were visible and they looked 2ft or more higher than normal. However with the new housing the trail is much less nature trail and more path in the woods beside 100s of new homes."
"There’s construction at the very start of the trail but once you get past it the trail is so nice!! If it rains the day prior, make sure to stay on the main trail, since the smaller trails collect puddles easier. I came across a fresh paw print that was massive. Not sure what it belonged to but it was way too big for a dog or a bobcat. Honestly, it was a super nice trail."
"Nice trail if you like secluded (which I prefer) but tends to be narrow and wet. Not a real reward once you get to the creek, which is really just a small tidal tributary. With the right shoes its a good walk or run between Nov to March/April. Other months the bugs and ticks will probably be too much. If you want to bike, definitely stay on Main or Houston trails."
"Wow! What a ton of history and some nice fun facts I learned today. I ended up finding a few ticks on me after the hike which is normal, so just check yourself after your hike. The yellow flies are not so bad here compared to other places I've been."
"Great place for a stroll. Trails are well marked, and take care of. There was one section that was a bit overgrown, so be sure to check for ticks when you are done. Overall a great place for a short, or long stroll through nature"
