"Had such a lovely stay here, I don’t know what everyone’s problem is in these reviews. Sure, the place has character. It’s old. The walls might have some stains. Grow up. Have you ever been to Europe? This is a great hotel. If you want a vanilla hotel experience go to a Holiday Inn. Me? I split a bottle of wine with my partner on the balcony outside of our room while we watched the sunset. The room was clean and our gorgeous bathtub did not once run out of hot water. Would definitely stay again."
"Stayed over the weekend for our Anniversary. My husband found the place on Travelocity. We checked in late which was good for us because we traveled several hours to get there. The inn is beautiful with lots of history. Room was spacious. We did have issues with the water in shower it would turn off and the light in the shower did not work."
"Didn’t stay at the inn, but had breakfast there. The food was fantastic. Absolutely delicious. Only 4 stars though because they seated outside for some reason. We arrived 5 minutes before they opened. We were four adults and one 3 1/2 year old. Once they opened the doors, the hostess asked if we had reservations, we informed them we didn’t. She said they did have space available, but only outside. The hostess wasn’t rude per se, but she was definitely short with us, and just seemed annoyed. Once we were seated outside, by ourselves, away from the whole restaurant, we realized what was happening. Seems we were sad outside because we had a child. So not only did they sit us outside when there was no reason to do so, the table was rickety and felt like it was going to fall down if we moved it too much while cutting our food. Again, all that being said, the food was tremendous! The service from our waitress was terrific as well! We would definitely return, and hopefully this time be allowed to sit inside with everyone else."
"I've stayed at the Florida House Inn multiple times in the past but after this time I won't be back due to an unbelievably loud room and lack of response from the hotel staff. I stayed September 29 through October 1st and on check in was given room 8, unfortunately this room is on the north side of the hotel facing the Green Turtle Tavern. While it would be normal to expect a bit of extra noise and commotion this room was completely unusable, even though the band (which sounded like it was in my room) quit before midnight each night the party didn't stop until well past 2am. And several of the bars tables are directly outside the windows of the room, close enough that you can hear every word of the conversations, every bad pickup line and spilled drink. My wife asked me to pass her something and the table outside the bathroom window thought she was asking them, at 0230. We made several attempts after the first night to contact the hotel and possibly move rooms or find some other solution, unfortunately there was never anyone at the front desk and the voicemails I left were never returned. After another sleepless night and upon checkout the only response was "I'm sorry, that sucks". At least warn people ahead of time that there will be issues on that side of the hotel and maybe only use those rooms as a last resort? Also, there is no Wi-Fi on that side of the hotel and we killed 3 cockroaches and 2 spiders in one night while listening to the band in our room. If you love visiting Fernandina for the bars as much as we do, but would like to get some sleep before 0300, don't stay here."
"I would stay here again under the right conditions and I would still recommend it with a little caution. I specifically ordered a deluxe room and was pretty disappointed to have no view. That was the only reason I upgraded our room. The other big issue we had was the floor was very dirty in the main room and the bathroom, lots of sand and hair. We had to wipe our feet before putting on shoes and getting into bed. We own a local restaurant and have been recommending this spot blindly for some time now. The house and courtyard were absolutely beautiful and the location is excellent. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious. Honestly we live close by and may possibly stay again but I would need a better room experience before recommending this house to our customers again. But for what we paid for the room I believe we would want to have a bit better experience. Does this hotel have a general manager?"
