"Do not go here. I went in for a routine contact exam due to my rx being expired and my vision wasn’t as good as it used to be. The dr first said my vision shouldn’t be changing at all at my age (this is incorrect). The dr also incorrectly jumped my rx up too high in both eyes (which I found out after seeing a new dr), he also insisted I had a focus issue and over the course of 2 weeks had me try two different (and new) contacts. After several days using each I told him my vision was worse than when I went in. He then told me my problem was too complex and he couldn’t help me anymore. I ended up going to a new dr (shout out to alachua family eye care). My vision issue was immediately and easily fixed and I now see great. My rx only went up slightly in one eye, less than he said it did. Nothing was complex about it. On top of the issues with my quality of care here, this place was in network with my vision insurance. They told me my vision insurance didn’t cover this type of exam and I had to pay for an exam that is usually covered. After my frustrations with the quality of care, I called my vision insurance asking why they won’t pay for this anymore and they told me they never received a bill and the exam should have been covered. Do yourself a favor and see a different dr. I highly suggest Alachua Family eye care."
"The doctor really listened to the issues with my eyes and explained what was going on with them. I kept having to go back to get the exact right contact to get used to my changing eyes. He was very patient. I appreciated his kindness."
"I wish I could leave a review without the stars but unfortunately I cannot. I have had 3 different experiences with this office. The first 2 were great, the doctor provided care for both my daughter and I. He was very professional and kind, as well as the staff. Our visit today was not as pleasant. Today I brought my 4-year old in due to vision concerns from his teacher. Prior to booking this appointment I was told by staff that this physician would be able to see my son at his young age. The first thing that was concerning is that he was talking to my son as if he were an older child. I anticipated that he would adapt his speech and how he performed the exam to cater towards my son's developmental level, and he did not. He used phrases like "Is this better or worse" which is what's used during typical eye exams. However, after hearing my son say the same word multiple times (indicating that he did not understand) he did not think to adapt his wording. Most people who work with children will also allow them to get a good look at what is being used, and if its safe even touch it so it will be less scary and he did not. Despite these things, my son did fairly well with the exam until it was time for the eye drops. He was scared and started having a fit. The doctor screamed at my son, asking him why he was acting that way. I ended up holding him down so he could get the drops. After they were placed the doctor the doctor stated, "Do you know why it burns, because of the way you were acting and you weren't listening". After sending us back to the lobby, he then proceeds to go to the lobby and speak with his staff stating multiple times, "How on earth do they get him to do shots if he does this with eyedrops?", which was very unprofessional. This was followed by asking by asking my son, "Well did you die?". I was appalled. On the one hand I am trying to get my son who is fearful of the unknown and a stranger, under control. On the other hand I'm trying to figure out why this man just yelled at my baby. I am a healthcare provider and I work with children and adults in the operating room. I take crying children from their parents to help them get the care they need. I have also had adults yell at me because they were unhappy about some form of care they have received, and I have NEVER responded that way. I would have rather he told me the exam couldn't be completed at this time. If you are an adult or preteen then he is a great doctor. If you have a young child I do not recommend."
"Five stars!! This is the first time I left comments on google map. The eye doctor (forget his name) is very nice and check everything in details! He even gives me instructions about how to protect my eyes and side notes he is pretty funny. The store manager is very nice too! He helped clean my boyfriend’s eyeglasses without charges and replace some parts of it, clean all the dirty green parts in the frames! I would say this is the best one in Gainesville since I have been to several other glasses store… Feel like they only want u to pay the money and leave."
"I went there today. The service was excellent. I am happy with the eye examination (the 4 stars was because of it). But, the price even though reviews say it is fair was at least 200 dollars more than other stores (why I didnt give a 5). I only looked after I had already bought my glasses with them and the prices I got from as example Optical Outlet was way cheaper. I never paid so much on glasses before, I am hoping it makes a difference so I feel it is worthy the price in the end. If you are not on a budget, I think this store is great, it is local, it is family owned and have great service."
