"I have been going here for years. I called on a Thursday morning at 8am because the medication that I had been prescribed 3 days ago wasn’t working. The nurse promised a call back to me that same day. Come Friday at 2pm, I haven’t heard anything so I call back and I am told that I have to wait until Monday. I’m in pain and they clearly don’t care at all. The receptionist told me that maybe another doctor would take a look at it, but he leaves early on Fridays. He didn’t have time for me either because it’s Friday night and I have a whole weekend of pain to look forward to. Find a practice that cares, because this one doesn’t."
"6 years under their care and the staff has only gotten worse over time, my calls are not returned, and messages not being responded to on the portal, which was created for better communication. They have constant turnover, which makes it harder to get care. I've had a migraine for 2 weeks now and had to go to the ER twice, to which the ER advises follow up with my neurologist, who never returns calls. The staff is SO RUDE! Brenda, Tia, and Nadine are beyond condescending and disrespectful, Brenda being the office manager. Amy and Dr. Toenjes were God sent initially, providing the best care, but somehow I was moved around to the 3 other doctors, all of which are no longer there, and when I asked to be returned to Dr. Toenjes, I was told he is booked for 6 months. I've pleaded to have Amy call me with no luck. I have been told Meredith is on maternity leave. Then, I receive a certified letter advising they are no longer treating me after the end of October. I'm ultimately being punished by having to find another neurologist because this office can't keep staff, which makes scheduling impossible. I have to say, it's a relief to find a doctor who cares and has time, but in the interim, I am STILL mid migraine and am not being treated because I can't get a returned call from First Coast. My opinion is to avoid this office until they get their staff in order to help the flow of treatment. Biggest disappointing piece is as an adult patient, spending countless dollars, you're ignored then spoken to like a child."
"Ever since Dr Doty left, the practice has gone downhill. The office staff have always been bad about processing referrals and returning calls, but maybe that's because they go through staff so fast. That should have been a warning to me. I saw Meredith for years and thought she was compassionate and genuine. Yet, just before doctor Doty left, they started trying to push people off on their new PA. There were other issues and I tried to contact Meredith, but she would not return phone calls after I have been a patient of hers for years. The callousness with which they treated me after being their patient for so long was actually hurtful. They dismissed me as if I were nothing, Just be careful and know they have no problem treating you as less than human, without so much as a phone call to explain why."
"I have seen Meredith Hawthorne PA several times over the past couple years. My last visit was last week and I feel compelled to share my experience. She has always been professional And genuinely concerned for my health, I have Multiple medical conditions. She is always willing to listen, I know she is busy but she makes me feel as though she has no other patient to see. I never feel rushed. It is her ability to listen and problem solve that has lead us to try new treatment plans for my migraines. I can’t say enough about Meredith her compassion and willingness to listen, which unfortunately is rare these days in the medical community. I never feel like a number or a diagnosis ( migraine patient). She treats patients as individuals with different issues/problems/conditions and doesn’t do cookie cutter medical management. I would recommend her to anyone with migraines or neurological problem. She truly what’s to help and is extremely knowledgeable."
"I have seen Dr. Doty once and that was my very first visit. All other appointments have been handled by Meredith Hawthorne, nurse practitioner. I cant really give a review on Dr. Doty because I feel like I don't even know her, Meredith however is amazing! she is so helpful and makes you fell like you matter and goes above and beyond to help you with any issues! The staff however, not very pleasant! Especially the front desk! They are not friendly at all and times even rude. I have had several encounters that were all unpleasant with them."
