"Very frustrating office at times. Sometimes the staff is friendly on the phone but usually not so helpful. Placed on hold for long periods, they rush you off the phone and a couple in particular have rough attitudes. I like my doctor a lot when i can actually talk to him, but there is lots of red tape to get to see them and to get get prescriptions refilled."
"I scheduled a physical over the phone. Did all the online paperwork. Last minute they tell me they don't do physicals on the first visit. You have to pay for a new patient appointment first. Then schedule a physical for a second visit. Bay Medial I don't have time for your games. Be upfront with your customers. Don't tell me you can do a physical then last minute say you can't."
"Charged a new visit because I had not been back in 3 years. The doctor spent 15 minutes with me and charged almost $500. She never asked about any medical history or past health concerns. Terrible medical care because they only care about the bottom dollar. Doctor ordered lab worked and never even bothered to call me with the results. Will not be going back to this healthcare facility. Save your time and money!"
"***UPDATE*** The ONLY reason I stayed with this practice was because of my doctor. They've since tried to pass me off to another doctor, so I found a new Family practice and dropped my rating from 2 stars to 1. Bye-bye Bay Care!! I became a patient at this practice over 12 years ago, back when it used to be Healthpoint, located on Church Street in South Tampa and I've had the same doctor the entire time. I've always, and still do, like my doctor (Dr. Elder), but since the practice moved to Swann Ave and became "BayCare" a few years ago, the office staff has been horrific! We've made appointments over the phone and shown up on several occasions only to find out that they don't have our appointment in their system! They constantly fail to call in prescriptions to our pharmacy; we show up at our pharmacy hours later, or the next day, only to find out that nothing was ever called in. When we contact them about the problem, we're met with attitude an no apologies. When it comes to referrals, we often have to call them numerous times to get them submitted to our insurance and the other provider. When one of our family members had a procedure done at this office, they failed to disclose all of the costs even when specifically asked. We were later hit with an out-of-pocket bill for the undisclosed cost. ...and EVERY time, yes, EVERY time they take our vitals prior to seeing the doctor, their blood pressure cuff squeezes so incredibly hard that it turns our arms purple to the point of pain and numbness. I pulled it off one time because it was so painful, and the tech lost her mind and scolded me for it. Then, EVERY time, they try to tell me that my blood pressure is elevated and concerning. Hell yes my blood pressure is elevated! You guys just put me in pain, turned my arm purple, and made my hand go numb! They can't even get something as simple as checking BP right. I check my BP regularly (even by other medical offices), and it is always normal an never painful when we're somewhere else. The only reason I give this place two stars and not one, is because I really like my doctor. But I think it may be time to find a new family practice; one that treats patients like people, not just another ID number in a manila folder! The admin staff is terrible! I don't know how the other reviews for this office gave more stars, but they must be affiliated with the practice in some way!"
"Everyone, be careful when you check out from this clinic. Make sure check the services doctor actually provided you. I shall explain the details below. Second issue is with the staff. Upon arrival, they ask for ID and three times they messed up my name. I was concerned not because of any cultural sensitivity but when I called them, they could not find my name and suggested me to make an appointment as a new patient. All my records were about to obsolete when a senior member of front desk team found my name. I had my annual scheduled and I had a motorcycle accident two days before my annual. When I arrived on my appointment, the staff told me that I can have one of two visits, annual or sickness. I told them that I am not sick and may ask question about my recent accident. They refused and I had to go back after taking a time off from my work and my wife who drove me. On my annual appointment, Dr. asked me if everything was OK. I told him that I had an accident and he suggested a sports medicine doctor. Dr. also read my reports and suggested a medicine which I told him to give me three months and let me try personally to take care of my upset levels before he puts me on the medicine. When I came to checkout, the cashier asked for COPAY. I told her this was my annual. She said, "Dr. treated you with the sickness". I told her that I am not sick and it supposed to be an annual appointment and Dr. informed what was not OK on my report. I spoke to clinic manager and she insisted that I was seen for both, annual and sickness. I asked her that your policy requires one visit at one time, so if I told doctor that what was wrong with me as a general question, why should I be charged as a sickness appointment. Dr. simply read the reports and only one thing came out of normal which he explained. Not only I felt betrayed but thought this is how doctors earn their money. With the profession like this, they should be honest. Furthermore, on my personal research, I found out that based on your insurance, they treat you accordingly. Explaining the report is not considered the treatment (i never had any treatment or medicine) or replying to doctor's question that I had an accident should be considered basic questions. Disappointed and discouraged with clinic staff who could not spelled my name after everytime I provided them with my ID. doctors mischarging people and take an advantage of insurance is not acceptable. BE CAREFUL*****"
