University Ace Hardware

"ACE might be my fav hardware store from nostalgia of the 90s alone. I enjoy the layout and feeling when you walk in there. It's not a big box store that feels overwhelming or geared toward gigantic projects. It feels like the place where a guy like me, who isn't very handy can get the help he needs."

"Had a difficult experience with online ordering for at store pickup. Called the store to get pricing help, rudely informed she had six people waiting in line. Should have seen that as a red flag, and made a different choice. None of the prices in the store matched the prices online, none of the advertised sale prices were the same. Despite the difficulty attempting to order online I was not offered any of the online discounts either. Went through the checkout with 13 items charged for 19. Spoke up got six items removed, mentioned the discrepancy in pricing, was asked to wait for manager to become available, (give or take 5 or 10 minutes) a token discount was offered and accepted. Got home, compared the online Ace pricing to the pricing on the receipt and decided to make a return and request a refund. Regrettably I was treated pretty rudely when I expressed my dismay over the pricing discrepancies, no offer to look online to check, no apology for the discrepancies, nothing but terse grunts. I really didn't feel like I got what I expected out of my Ace at University. The experience here was as negative an Ace experience as I've had in memory. While I may still go back in there out of need, I certainly won't go out of my way to go back."

"Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. This is a wonderful hardware store and has been serving the community for many years. Don't forget to say hello to the resident fluffy feline manager."

"The staff are always friendly and as helpful as possible. Been going here for almost 30 years. It has changed ownership a few times and the most recent time really upped the quality and quantity of what they stock. I hope they are able to maintain that. Excellent location as their isn’t another hardware store in the immediate vicinity so it can be a real time saver for small stuff that you need in a pinch. My kids even actually let me look around because they love petting the very gentle store cat!"

"They have everything right around the corner. Super knowledgeable people in the store. Always eager to help. Lots of items to choose from in each category. Some of the largest nut and bolt sections have ever seen. A little bit overwhelming, That's why they're always there to help. I needed a microfiber cloths section in cleanup area. They had some in the cleaning section. They had some in the paint section. The largest selection was in the cleaning area and found exactly what I needed and the prices were pretty good."
