"After years and years of rock heaters being infamous for the health issues and burns they cause for various species, PetCo will still happily sell them to you. Buy local, or at the very least do your research before getting reptiles/amphibians/invertebrates and the supplies for them at commercial pet stores. It's unrealistic to expect staff to know the ins and outs of more exotic animal care, but as a company they should do better in terms of what they stock."
