"I have adopted several cats from this location, and I have no complaints. Most Die hard animal lovers most likely will say that you should only adopt from rescues, but my experience was excellent. They cover most of the costs involved. Santa Rosa Animal Sevices also has some pets available for adoption at Petsmart. The facilities are very clean and everyone was really friendly. You simply can't go wrong here. Give them a chance, and I think you will agree."
"I have been in touch with the SR animal services office about a situation behind my house. It started with incessant barking all night and day. I posted in my subdivision FB group, and a police officer agreed to look into it. He looked over the fence in my backyard and saw lots of dogs and cats kept in wire cages. He reported everything to the SR animal services, and they "investigated." A little over a month goes by with no improvement. I get nowhere when I call, so I decide to go in person. I spoke with the director who made it seem like not much could be done. One has to keep a log of barking which the SR animal control officer uses to catch the dogs barking. They said that they don't take animals from owners but rather work with them to educate them. They also brought them pallets...not sure why. As far as I can tell, these animals are never let out of the cages. I think it's illegal in Florida to keep animals in small cages and never let them out to run. The smell of urine and feces is terrible, and I'm worried that one of the dogs might be dead or very sick. He is lying with eyes closed and doesn't move when I whistle or when other dogs bark. Also, the cats make terrible crying noises. The conditions are terrible. Not to mention, the barking and odor are a nuisance to neighbors. It's now January, and while they appear to have fewer dogs, there are still at least two locked in small cages and many cats. The weather is terrible tonight and forecast to be well below freezing next week. I can't imagine that these animals will survive."
"Such an awarding experience! We gratefully left with Boogie, who joined our family today! Every staff member, including the folks in front of PetSmart with dogs available for adoption, was friendly and kind."
"This has one of the most helpful shelters I’ve ever been too. The first week of June, I found 4 baby kittens under the hood of my car (probably around 1 week old). I called multiple rescues and they were all full and unable to help. I ended up calling animal control and they advised my husband and I to take them to the shelter. The shelter was full as well, however they informed me of their foster program. They provided me with supplies to care for these babies, like kitten milk, a scale, kitten food, blankets, litter, etc. They also gave me advice on how to catch the mom cat, which was a life saver. I caught the mom and she was able to nurse the babies for a few weeks. During the entire process, the shelter provided medical attention to the feral mom and her kittens (at no charge to my husband and I). Unfortunately the mom ended up getting mastitis and a big infection. The shelter was quick to take her into surgery, get her recovered so she could be neutered and released back outside. Jennie ( one of the vet techs) was absolutely incredible in responding to my texts about any and all concerns. Since finding the babies on June 5th, they have been adopted out and feral momma is back outside fully healthy and spayed. I highly recommend this shelter if you are looking to adopt or foster. They do have a lot on their plates and are very busy…. But they truly care about the animals and helping people out."
"The staff here is top notch. I called seeking guidance on some outside kitties who became inside kitties after getting in my engine multiple times. Though they weren't able to assist with vet care, the woman I spoke with gave me some options I could look at and resources in the area. She was very kind and helpful. The family of 4 is doing well!"
