"Faithfully paid on time for six years and decided to cancel our policies over a month ago. We're owed a refund of nearly $7k. Cool! Except the only way to do that is via them sending me a piece of paper to sign and mail back. In 2018. Hand to God. We do that and mail them in 10/10. No call or email or letter saying there's an issue. But we still get bills for the policies we cancelled. Call today and speak to a nice enough guy who says they never got our forms. Hold for 10 minutes and they're found! And it appears they got them back on 10/15. But the policy number is wrong as written so they did, we'll nothing. No notice of any kind. Ask for a boss who can help fix the issue. They'll email us a form to fill out and we can scan and email it back. All of a sudden this is an option where it wasn't before. Great. Sr Representative Mary Alice says she can't talk about it with me as it's in my wife's name. Both wife and I are on speaker with her. Get that sorted, Mary Alice can't go 30 seconds without interrupting me. I ask for some estimation of how long it will take to get our sizeable refund, no way they'll offer an answer. Mary Alice wants me to be grateful for the favor she's doing me by allowing us to email in a form. Ask for Mary's boss. At first, no answer. Refused to provide me an email address for complaints or a phone number. Only after telling her I'll contact every member of Penn Mutual exec via LinkedIn does she offer me a name and a promise she'll call me back: Katrina Bridgeman. No idea when she'll call me back as she's not in right now. 3:30 on a Wednesday. No problem. Wouldn't tell me which office to contact or that I was even talking to. So here I am. TL;DR: If they owe you money don't count on getting it back in under a month and don't count on Penn Mutual to make it remotely easy or plenty. They'll cash your checks just fine though."
