"My daughter has been a patient of Dr.Sanz for 5 years now. Dr.Sanz has played an important part in my daughter's mental health. She has helped manage her ADHD perfectly. Dr.Sanz does speak fluent Spanish which I don't need but with the growing Hispanic presence in the Tampa area, I'm sure that's very helpful. I usually do most of my communication with the office via email and Lori at the front is very responsive. I send emails for appointments, refill requests and any other last minute school paperwork requested from the school which is not often. I feel that Dr.Sanz is very compassionate and I value her experience. I was able to get her advice for my other daughter a couple years ago when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was having major panic attacks due to her fear of needles. Dr.Sanz suggested a short 6 months treatment with a low dose antidepressant and this dramatically helped my daughter's outcome because at one point she wasn't even able to eat/swallow from the anxiety. Dr.Sanz is very flexible and does listen to our concerns in wanting to treat but not over treat. My daughter is very hyperactive and thanks to her ADHD treatment she is an honors student with a bright academic future and growing confidence. Transitioning from elementary to middle school has been hard on my daughter mentally due to bullying . Dr. Sanz noticed her change in personality and suggested antidepressants which did help some. In 7th grade, at her annual physical with the pediatrician, they had her fill out a "suicide survey" and after she scored high and some talk of baker acting my daughter, which was an overreaction I think, the pediatrician told me to call Dr Sanz right away and if I was able to get her seen that day, they would not baker act. Dr Sanz saw her last minute that day, changed her medication and my daughter has been engaging with counseling/ therapy since then. Mental health is a journey. For my kids I've had to do lots of research to help them as much as I can, Dr.Sanz helps with medication and advice/guidance, I also use counseling/therapy to help my kids build coping skills, etc. I feel that as a parent I have to manage that my daughters are receiving all the help they need and "it takes a village". I'm thankful to have Dr.Sanz as part of my village."
"Dr.Sanz is more suited for an adult psychiatrist, not for children or teens. If you are looking for someone with the time and patience to provide the best help for you child you will not be satisfied with the help received by Dr.Sanz. Although she does seem to care about her patients there is a lack of organization, a rushed untimely environment and you spend the the initial part of each session you pay for to have Dr.Sanz recap the entire last session, ask what medications and dosages your child is on which are all available to them on their charts as she watches the screen reviewing it again as she does not prepare in advance for her appointments and you wait for her recap as you pay for whatever time that takes. It would be worth it if their was a connection with her and your child however, there is no effort in making this connection and her questions can turn more into an interrogation to a young teen. Her methods of forcing information by constantly repeating the same question, following them around the room even into the parking lot was concerning and completely shut down my son from opening up at all to her. Again she may be a much better fit for an adult, but she is by far not a good choice for adolescents."
"I'm updating my review to reflect the care that we recently received from Dr. Sanz. She did a very thorough review of my son's case history and met with my husband and I and then my son, separately. I appreciated her expertise and insight into what we've been experiencing. It's clear that she is very knowledgable when it comes to children and psychiatric care, and it's been difficult to find someone so confident in that field in this area. I think our appointment gave us a higher level overview of what's been going on, and it helped us separate different types of behavioral patterns--some that may be trauma based, others that may be mental health related, others that may be personality, etc, and what medication may help with. It was helpful for us to hear it broken down like this. I had previously experienced some scheduling issues with this office which I'm going to chalk up to a miscommunication. I do think the office would benefit by telling clients in the future if they're no longer taking new clients, as it would resolve any misunderstandings."
"I don’t think that Dr. Sanz is actually interested in helping troubled children or their families. I’ve called twice to ask for her to evaluate my son based on a recommendation and referral from one of her peers, but she’s declined to even see him without explaining why. I can understand if a provider and patient aren’t a good fit, but I’ve never met a provider who won’t even meet with the child before coming to that conclusion. And even if that’s her take, why not offer an explanation why? I’ve asked her staff and there is no explanation. That leaves us feeling even more hopeless than we were when we called her to ask for help. If the care provider thinks you’re child is helpless, who do you turn to?"
"Dr. Sanz is an incredibly compassionate, competent person. I have been seeing her since I was a minor, and I am now over the age of 18. She has been extremely caring and helpful with my disorders. As a minor, she was required to tell my parents anything I said that could put myself or others in danger, which is NOT a violation of confidentiality. Hands-down the best, sweetest, and most effective psychiatrist I have seen. 5 stars. I highly recommend her."
