Reviews of Boys Town South Florida
"I am very impressed with Boystown Behavioral Health. My 10 yr. old grandson and I have quickly made amazing progress thanks to our great psychologist, Dr. Marcela. Also, thanks to Dr. Diane, for her very efficient and thorough psychological evaluation. Well done! The building and offices are beautiful and spotless."
"Very disappointed in these services, they keep changing staff and unprofessional they don’t follow up in a timely manner, they literally closed my case without proper notification, I would not recommend them unfortunately to anyone. They are not properly staffed. I think it’s a real shame for an organization like this that is most probably getting significant funding to be treating clients in this manner. They are not trained properly in DV or know how to help women especially Moms that have gone through this."
"I have used them for both my kids. Targeted case management for my oldest, and phycology for my younger son. With my oldest, who has Medicaid, this is by far the best option in PBC. I had such a good experience with the case management that I wanted to try them for therapy for my younger son. I had a hard time getting my first appointment set up for my younger son, and I had to call and email a lot, who knows if remote working was affecting this or not. I will say I have tried all the other offices that take Medicaid, and they are all the same in this regard. Once I got the first appointment scheduling sorted out though, scheduling has been easy since I do it with the phycologist directly. This is not our first experience with therapy. We have used different agencies over the years for various issues, and Dr. Steve is just a fantastic fit for my youngest son! My youngest is very bright and it is clear to me that he is smarter than me, making parenting even harder. Dr. Steve has not only helped my son directly, but he has also been able to give me parenting advice on how to communicate with him more effectively. We have to be able to acknowledge that the child is a part of the family, and though the parents are not the reason for everything, they do play a huge role, which is why it isn’t just my son who needs the therapy, but me too. My oldest is about to have case management again from them and start therapy with Dr. Ryan. I can’t attest to Dr. Ryan yet, but he is highly recommended. Hopefully he will be a good fit for my oldest too."
"I tried for months to make an appointment there. Not one single person would return my calls. When I finally did get someone to talk to they would give me every excuse in the book not to help me. Jasmine especially was particularly despicable. She was wildly unprofessional, and even unethical at times during our conversation. I’m appalled at the entire staff and will do everything in my tiny power to make sure everyone in our community knows that this is in no way, shape, or form a place to get help for your child or your family."
"Really horrible program. Scheduling in the evening or on weekends pointless. The "Dr" we saw was Dr. Anthony. He refused to let us see any other doctor at the program but him. He read from his computer screen the majority of the session, always ran late past appointment time without accomplishing anything, has no life lessons/skills and anytime we asked a question, we were told we could go somewhere else. When he met our child, "Dr" Anthony berated him and spoke so condescendingly to him our kid said he didn't want to go back. Anthony is offended by anyone who questions or asks the reasons/research behind Boystown theory. It's as if you need to blindly follow the cult and not question anything. False facts stated about program being 90% successful & 10% failure was from parents who didn't follow program. "Dr" Anthony said program is completely data driven and refused to believe data can be skewed. #1 advice from them is to put your child to sleep early in a pitch black house with absolutely no noise anywhere (even outside) and "walk your child back to their room as if you're a robot" until "eventually they'll get it". No room for after school sports, events, life...you are to stop everything and stick to bed sleep time (even though that's not reality). "Dr" Anthony called and told us he didn't want to help us after four pointless sessions. The main doctor, Dr. Chris never made contact with us after "Dr" Anthony dumped us or to see what was going on. Quite sure we were let go because we didn't go exactly by the program even though "Dr" Anthony said we could variate and flex as we saw fit. (Don't want to skew the data!!) I couldn't recommend more AGAINST this program. If I could give it ZERO STARS I would. Hey "Dr" Anthony, anyone can get a doctorate's degree and call themselves a doctor - get some actual life experience, have some self-confidence, improve your ability to actually RELATE to actual human beings with real-life children living real-life situations, try to independently think and not speak in a cult-like tone... Maybe one day you'll actually earn the right to be called Dr without the quotes. Really truly disappointed."
