"My first meeting I shared that I was very sensitive to medications. Dr White shared that another patient had a similar “belief” and made it clear that she thought that woman was making up her symptoms and was very dismissive of the concept that people can be very sensitive to meds. I should have left right then - but it was my first experience with a psychiatrist and I was intimidated- it had taken a lot of effort for me to get to that point of scheduling that appt in the first place and she was recommended by someone I trusted (and she took my insurance). Over the next few years I continued with dr white but was never really comfortable with her. I was somewhat managing my symptoms but she was less than supportive. During Covid I got very ill and that is when her practice escalated to unethical. In short, she continued to prescribe medications to which I had terrible extreme reactions. She was shaming to the point that I questioned my own sanity. When I expressed concern over side effects she told me it was in my head. At one point she told me that I should go online and look at medications and tell her what I thought would be a medication to try since I was questioning her. Mind you I was very ill at this point. (I ended up doing that and now realize how completely inappropriate her approach was) When I experienced a true crisis and called her office she said her next appt was 10 days out. That was the last time I saw her professionally. My experience with her was so traumatic I did not want to go back to a mental health professional. Luckily when I did, I found someone who is empathetic, listened to me- and knows the updated research. During our first meeting when I shared my past experiences to medications and sensitivity she recommended a genetic test which can help determine medication tolerance. We discovered that i am in fact not a good candidate for multiple medications and that I have a genetic condition which is related to anxiety and depression and can be addressed with a simple over the counter vitamin supplement. Dr. White caused me so much trauma it is hard to know that she is still practicing and potentially causing harm to others."
