"My reasoning for looking for the assistance of Nueva Vida Women’s Health was that I had seen the statistics of a higher likelyhood of a positive birth experience when having the support of a birth coach/doula. I can definitely say I got what I was looking for! The Birth Day of my baby boy will be forever cherished in my memory as a cheerful, beautiful day filled with presence and trust. In the weeks prior to Nolan’s birth, Amanda was a grounding presence that willfully provided evidence based resources to guide my decision making. She gave me much peace of mind in a moment where anxiousness can easily take over. The “prep” for labor was such a crucial part for me to set my state of mind for the big day. As per usual, little happened as I expected, but I was resilient and excited to get to know my unique birth story. Amanda met my husband and me at the hospital in the middle of the night, shared her experience and gave room for my own. She spoke to me about my options at each step of the way as my labor progressed, and gave me so much support playing hypnobirthing tracks and with manual treatment during contractions. My husband was so thankful to have her presence as well, he even got to rest for a bit. I can’t forget to mention the beautiful pictures and videos she captured of that special moment. "If you are looking for a doula, see if Sara is available! I am a first time mom, and my husband and I decided to get a doula to better prepare and have support for the birth. We did this towards the end of my pregnancy and Sara graciously added us to her clientele and prepared us with everything we needed in the short time. Sara has so much knowledge about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She is up-to-date on the latest research and will share her knowledgeable guidance with you based on facts. She is very supportive about the birth experience you want, and will stay unbiassed and neutral as she asks clarifying questions throughout her relationship with you, to make sure you get your ideal experience. She is very encouraging and she shares so many resources to make the process easier and to get her clients as educated as possible for the process. She is very intentional with the time spent with her clients and she genuinely cares about about you as shown by her check-ins throughout the pregnancy. My husband was willingly present for all of the meetings with Sara, and Sara incorporated him into the process as well, which made it extra special. Our family loved working with her!"

"How do we even begin to say Thank You to Sara for helping bring our son into this world so beautifully? My husband was a total skeptic, despite having the role explained and my preferences expressed. Probably within 30 minutes or so of active labor, my husband whispered, "I'm so glad she's here with us! Everyone needs a doula." Sara seemed to sense exactly what we were thinking throughout the day and would suggest I try new positions to help bring baby down (and they worked!). Everything progressed perfectly, and we were soon holding our precious boy in our arms. The hospital staff was so impressed with Sara that they immediately asked for business cards once our son was born. Without Sara, I would have immediately caved against my goal of a natural delivery. Sara helped me stay the course, both of us knowing I could do it! We highly recommend Sara, not just for her knowledge and professionalism, but also for her calm, sweet spirit and commitment to us and how we hoped our birth story would play out in a modern hospital setting. As a pediatric nurse married to a paramedic, we know too much and didn't want to potentially risk precious minutes should a home birth turn south.
