"Please be aware! I contacted UF Shands Endoscopy Center three weeks prior to confirm the procedure diagnosis code and that it would be a preventative routine colonoscopy. I then took that code and provided it to my insurance who confirmed it would be covered at 100%. After the procedure, this institution completely changed the code to a diagnostic colonoscopy. This caused me to be billed $2600. My insurance will not cover $1 of this procedure due to the diagnostic code. I have called the billing department, my insurance even spoke with the coding manager, Donna Akers who is nothing but ratchet. They refuse to send my insurance the correct code. If I had known that this was going to be completely out of pocket, I would not have had the procedure. You cannot get anymore unethical than this. Furthermore, what happened to the No Surprise Act? I guess they do not follow this in our lovely sunshine state."
"Staff was great, BUT their billing/coding department will bill you what they want, doesn’t matter what your doctors submit. Unfortunately my insurance won’t pay for the coding they submitted. It would have paid for the billing code my doctors submitted and requested. I spoke to this billing department prior to the procedure to confirm it would be billed as a screening, they confirm yes, but after the procedure their coding department billed it as a diagnostic procedure. If you did a cologuard test and it came back positive be prepared to pay $4,000 out of pocket for a diagnostic colonoscopy even though cologuard and your doctors recommend a follow up screening colonoscopy not a follow up diagnostic colonoscopy. Most insurance companies only pay 100 percent for a screening colonoscopy not for a diagnostic colonoscopy which will cost you out of pocket $4,000. Update, I heard that effective this year insurance companies are now legally supposed to pay for both screening and diagnostic colonoscopies, but I would double check with your insurance company."
"Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Tracey are the dream team. Thank you both helping me get through a difficult procedure. I didn't think I would be able to but, with both of you helping me, I was able to follow through. Also, ms. Jennifer is an amazing patient advocate."
"I would love to compliment Ms. Jen, the nurse that was there for me. She is Super Friendly, Great Personality, The BEST Nurse I have ever met. Whenever you are having any kind of procedure done, it always helps the patient to have some that is this kind. I want to thank her for being so kind."
"Excellent care. Total procedure time was less than 3 hours. Staff goes way beyond in making sure you are comfortable and well cared."
