Reviews
"I really want to say that this institution works individually for each student, takes care of their education and also takes care of the personal, physical and spiritual formation of each of their students. I highly recommend this institution for the high quality of the teaching and administrative staff. Each of the team is professionally prepared in their area of work. I am honored to have my children in this school. Thanks to everyone at Southland Christian School. Blessings"
"I have gone to this school since 7th grade and finally withdrew for my junior year of highschool and to say the very least, my experience was terrible from beginning to end. The teachers assign unnecessary amounts of work to simply keep students busy and don’t even bother grading them so all the hard work they put into doing it is wasted. Another of the many flaws is that most of the teachers are racists, including the principal himself. They hire an evangelist to preach twice a year and he says many culturally insensitive things and no one blinks an eye (this isn’t the only reason why I say they are racist but it is the most obvious), they pick and choose favorites and mistreat the students that they don’t favor (speaking as one of the few who wasn’t favored by most teachers so I was constantly accused of things that I never actually did and teachers believed other students who were telling them lies about me and would not allow me to defend myself). Other reviews said that they don’t repremand bullies as they should and its true, a lot of the students break many rules and get away with it. In the last school year, a group of boys beat my friend’s little brother so bad that they broke his arm and no one took disciplinary action. There were two students in my class freshman year that brought illegal drugs and shared it with other students and once they got caught, they weren’t expelled, but forced to withdraw and the principal later allowed them to come back and one of them still goes to the school. They also beg and cry for money donations to fund the school but oddly enough everything is incredibly low budget even though some teachers are obviously paid well. There are some good people in administration, more specifically Ms. DaSilva, who does so much of the work and doesn’t get enough credit, and the drama/music department teacher, Mr. Calderon, does his job very well and is a kind hearted man who made my time at the school worthwile in the performances and worship that I participated in. I’ve seen a lot of parents comment on how great the school is and yes, the school is great, but only for the younger kids. Once your child reaches middle school and highschool it’s going to change for the worse and I can assure you that."
"Our family is so glad that our children attended Southland. We found the school to have a staff that is committed to helping children learn and grow. Both of our children have their Associate's Degree and they will earn their Bachelor’s Degree next year. They were taught how to study and apply themselves due to the curriculum at Southland."
"My daughter has been going to this school for the past two years and I absolutely love it and so does she. This school staff always makes us feel accepted there and are always kind. She is going into the 4th grade this year. I have had her in piano lessons and ballet which is right after school once a week. She was in a public school but was having problems learning and when I put her in this school, it turned around for her and now she's doing fantastic! A's and B's! I have never had a negative experience with this school like other reviewers are saying. My daughter along with 6 of my cousins are in this school and love it as well. They do accept StepUpForKids if you cannot afford to pay but you have to apply very early in the year."
"I see bullying in this school and a lot of values lost by staff, I do not feel acceptance in this school which is sad to say because they call themselves Christians. Also, for a school that one is paying for it is quite unsustainable. They do not teach values about Earth and use products like styrofoam instead of paper and the children are not taught of the dangers of how we are altering our climate. How do we expect to see a better future when institutions that are supposed to excel are doing the same thing as a public school?"
